  • The role supports the Credit Risk Stress Testing Change Delivery team in the area of Wholesale Credit Risk Projections. The roleholder will be expected to work closely with the Project Manager and Lead Business Analysts to support requirement elicitation, documentation and sign-off and to contribute to functional and UAT testing of SAS/Python/Cloud based solution. The role will also involve extensive data analysis and data mappings tasks and as such the role holder must be comfortable to run queries in SAS/Python as required. The roleholder will need to work independently without close supervision and will be expected to exercise initiative and judgement while following the project lifecycle process. The role will involve exposure to senior businses managers and a variety of other stakeholders.

What you’ll do:

Impact on the Business

  • Capturing, analysing and documentation of business requiremements pertaining to Credit Risk Stress Testing and Projections, risk models, regulatory and internal reporting
  • Providing a link between the requirements team and the business process and testing teams to ensure consistency of approach and efficient cross-workstream communication
  • Engagement and support of additional stakeholders who may need to contribute to the overall project deliverables
  • Undertaking data analysis tasks to establish reasons for data and process gaps, help with data and ouputs reconciliation and regression testing and analysisSupporting testing (FT & UAT) and overall delivery of the solution by working together with the Stress test Delivery Manager and other suppliers (e.g. IT).
  • Hands on with system interaction tools such as SAS Enterprise Guide and DI Studio to facilitate data analysis and requirement gathering
  • Participate in preparation and execution of user training
  • Support the project manager with risk identification, risk reporting and project risks mitigation
  • Contribute to impact assessment activities and work effort assessments
  • Coordinate responses to production support requirements from the operations team
  • Provide Input and Guidance to other Credit Risk Stress Testing projects

Customers / Stakeholders

  • The role holder will be expected to initiate and maintain interactions with a variety of project stakeholders including business teams, operations support, technology teams and external vendors

  • Responsible for driving end-to-end ownership if assigned requirements from inititation to delivery; therefore the role holder must be highly skilled in teamwork, to drive his/her own and the team’s approach and standards
  • Collaborate with other Group functions, Regional teams to ensure effective working relationships which deploy solutions to a prioritised set of markets

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Ownership of requirement documentation standards for Stress Testing activities to ensure strong, repeatable and consistent delivery process
  • Ensure due observance of HSBC Internal Control Standards and Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal / external auditors and external regulators.

  • Ensuring appropriate version control and rigor is applied across the work stream and the relevant documentation is maintained to provide a clear audit trail.

Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority)

  • The role supports the project lead of SPST (Strategic Planning & Stress Testing) Credit Risk Finance Change Delivery on business analysis and functional testing, delivered as per the agreed plan through engagement with business stakeholders, IT and operations function for a successful Credit Stress Test execution.

Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)

  • The jobholder will continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology
  • The Programme must be managed in accordance with the group controls framework and with relevant FIM’s (Finance Instruction Manual)
  • Approach / Change must comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements from a global standpoint
  • Also by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department

Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)

  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points, together with any issues raised by external regulators
  • The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply
  • This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators

Role Dimensions (e.g. balance sheet size, lending/expenditure limits, size/volume of transactions, budget. in USD’000)

  • The role holder will work with a large Global Finance team that delivers complex transformational and important regulatory change

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Strong Business Analysis background and Functional Testing areas
  • Excellent knowledge of Waterfall/Agile project methodology and business analyst’s role within
  • Working knowledge of SQL/SAS to aid data analysis
  • Proven record of requirement documentation, stakeholder engagement and project work
  • Ability to document and communicate concepts, flows, designs in a clear a concise fashion
  • Good knowledge of Credit Risk Stress Testing and Projections
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Numerous years experience in business analysis and working within large programmes. 
  • Demonstrated flexibility across multiple domains and functional areas
