Credit Risk, Underwriting and Customer Support (CRUCS) is central to the future success of WPB and is uniquely placed to play a key role in every single element of the “One WPB Strategy.” CRUCS sits squarely at the heart of WPB UK and will help to make the strategic ambition a reality. This role sits within the Outcome Standards team whose overarching goal is to empower, engage and support our colleagues to deliver ‘good’ customer outcomes. We are central to understanding where things are going well and where things could be better for both our people and our customers. Through the insight we provide, we enable the HSBC UK Growth strategy, but do so safely.

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager Outcome Standards, the Outcome Standards Department Manager is an essential leadership position, and the role holder will be accountable for the delivery of the business area priorities, risk and controls.
They will lead by example, encouraging diversity and differentiation through a deep understanding across all risk, control and quality assurance activities.
They will support the business, across various interventions, in achieving its strategic aims through high quality insight and analysis of performance and trends. The role holder will need a clear understanding of the immediate and wider implications of both their actions, and the wider team from both a customer, colleague and regulatory perspective.

The Department Manager will be responsible for coaching, motivating and leading their teams to support stakeholders deliver excellent customer service to customers as part of HSBC UK, creating a culture where everyone can thrive.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and coach a large team of Outcome Standards Team Managers & Officers.
  • Provide oversight of risk, quality and outcome activity in significant and complex business projects.
  • Lead and implement change by taking personal accountability for the adoption of change and realization of benefits within the immediate and wider business area. 
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, risk and compliance requirements [i.e. FIM’s] by maintaining up to date awareness of operational risk.
  • Own and manage resource requirements and capacity allowance to support effective completion of required activities.
  • Drive quality assurance automation opportunities, through clear strategy, operational planning and effective communication.
  • Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure regulatory risks, projects and other deliverables align with wider strategic objectives and controls.

 

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

·         A proactive and flexible leadership style with experience of developing yourself and others.

·         Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Quality Assurance, reporting, risk, analysis and data.

·         Previous experience of leading a team and/or individuals in remote locations is essential.

·         Positive, dynamic and resilient individual, open to change and able to adapt to circumstance.

·         Good understanding of project management and productivity improvement tools.

·         Problem-solving and analytical skills to identify trend with the ability to interpret, mitigate and where appropriate escalate risk related information/incidents.

·         Ability to build effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same.

·         Excellent planning and prioritization skills with an understanding of the external regulatory requirements.

 

This is a hybrid working role with the base locations including; Birmingham, Leeds, Swansea or Bristol.
