It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management

WPB business to provide employees with contextual data for smarter consumer engagement and provide management with robust analytics (customer interaction, attrition, loyalty, cost analysis and transactional and behavioral analysis) for ongoing decision-making and also for mitigating regulatory risk. WPB analytics team provide support 30+ markets globally

Global Business/Global Function - Sub-Function:

We are building a best-in-class global Cyber Fraud capabilities to work across priority markets as a key competitive differentiator for HSBC. This state-of-the-art capability focuses on leveraging the new fraud decision systems, cyber-intelligence platforms and open-source data by building advanced solutions and creating a depth of analytic expertise. WPB Fraud Analytics are responsible for the global engineering, industrialisation, and delivery of analytical products to help mitigate Fraud in all the countries HSBC operates in. This function works closely with key stakeholders including Global Cyber Security, Global Fraud Management, Digital and Markets with the intent of delivering enhanced control capabilities with focus on putting into practice the global strategic approach for cyber enabled fraud, supporting fraud analytics & modelling to enhance the control capability and managing the customer experience related to fraud.

What you’ll do:

Business Consulting job family is structured to address end-to-end business needs. Members of this Job Family are differentiated by their capability of providing the required consultation & work with end-business by way of assessing the requirements, identifying the right analytical solution that can solve for the business problem, and developing the same for execution – often covering areas of business growth, improving customer experience, limiting risk exposure, enhancing internal business processes etc.,. They are required to, as necessary, embed agile & exploratory practices into their approach as needed, and retain the flexibility to change track to adopt other solutions based on changed scenarios, in order to deliver on effective results. This talent group can be tapped into for providing solutions for varying areas including improving existing processes, technology and approaches by embedding exploratory & analytics & taking it forward with a consulting mind set.

  • Strong understanding of business domain, functional goals, and the required technical expertise across multiple regions. Makes decisions, even with ambiguous /incomplete data at a pace that balances the need for further analysis and the need for timely decision given business priorities / requirements
  • Support to develop a consulting culture within team, partner with functional business leaders in developing analytical strategies / decision making to achieve higher value
  • Translate key analytical solutions as generic and re-deployable across regions / markets. Drive redeployment of the solutions
  • Provide actionable analytical solutions for unstructured business problems. Communicates across all levels and with senior executives
  • Support innovative analytical thinking & solutions that results into improved business performance

You will work closely with stakeholders and other functions within WPB, Fraud and Cyber to develop innovative and actionable models which help to manage Cyber fraud risk. The solutions we deliver need to manage risk effectively, be commercially focused, scalable across our many markets and lines of business and stand up to the rigors of internal and external scrutiny and review.

  • Support the development and deployment of models and analytical products to manage and mitigate financial crime risk
  • Develop new analytical practices in partnership with other Research & Analytics functions.
  • Identifying, analysing and reporting on potential exposure of top and emerging cyber enabled fraud risks
  • Engage manual Phishing website takedown procedures when necessary
  • The management of compromised card data to provide heightened customer protection
  • Responding to alerts from the various monitoring/detection systems and platforms within defined SLAs
  • Contributing to the continued evolution of cyber threat hunting, monitoring, detection, analysis and response capabilities and processes.

Management of Risk/Internal Controls/Compliance:

  • The jobholder will continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
  • The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
  • The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
  • This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
Requisitos

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on analytics experience solving complex business problems using data
  • PhD or Master’s degree from reputed university in statistics, economics or any other quantitative fields
  • Strong analytical skills with business analysis experience or equivalent. In depth knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations is a must
  • Proven leadership track record in dynamic/changing banking environments and matrix structure
  • Ability to nurture strong relationships with stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Strong project management skills
  • Exceptionally strong organizational, problem-solving & inter-personal skills. Ability to communicate clearly across various levels
  • An Entrepreneurial spirit/drive to execute quickly with the simultaneous ability to navigate through organizational complexities                   
  • Advanced analytical techniques e.g. regression analysis, predictive analysis, data mining, machine learning
  • Experience of one or more of the following: SAS, Python, Spark, SQL/HQL,R, Scala, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS.
  • Ability to mentor team members and guide them effectively
  • Ability to confidently interact with senior management and communicate and synthesize information in a simple form
  • Besides strong written and verbal communication skills the incumbent is also expected to have strong presentation skills.
