Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth. 

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Financial Institution Credit Risk Manager.

Principal Responsibilities

In this role you will: 

  • Support the Regional Head of Wholesale Credit Risk Management ASP in day-to-day responsibilities of the FI Credit Risk Team
  • Provide counterparty credit analysis on FI and NBFI clients counterparties, while supporting ASP Global Banking and Markets business growth
  • Promote greater connectivity and interaction between Risk and the business across regions and globally, by ensuring effective support and communications with regional sites (CEOs, CROs, Treasurers), HBAP Risk, Group Risk and Business Heads on major credit risk issues associated with FI & NBFI sectors
  • Provide approvals/endorsements for limit requests and transactions for all HBAP sites for GB&M
  • Proactively monitor FI and NBFI portfolio across the region ensuring appropriate management of deteriorating conditions in the portfolio and the factors influencing these circumstances. Ensure timely and appropriate dissemination of this information to Senior Management regionally and globally
  • Streamline and enhance the efficiency of credit approval policies and procedures related to Financial Institutions across the region
  • Lead project initiatives and papers touching on FI Credit Risk for Senior Management and the Business
  • Assist to implement Global standards across the region to protect the integrity and reputation of the Group and undertake tasks as directed by line manager, Regional Head of Wholesale Credit Risk Management, ASP and Senior Management in WMR
Requirements

To be successful you will need: 

  • An undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field with significant experience of working in a bank or a financial institution, preferably in a risk management function specialising in Counterparty Credit Risk
  • Team management skills are preferred with good communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management in the language of business. Ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the front office staff
  • Working experience in a sophisticated investment bank with in-depth understanding in derivative valuations and exposure measurement principles
  • Good understanding of funds, securitization and structured transactions across all Global Markets products and risk mitigation techniques. Further, good understanding of derivatives legal documentation is required.
  • Understand and interpret complex business requirements
