The Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) Advisory Team is responsible for providing regulatory advice and guidance to colleagues across WPB, covering all aspects of Compliance including advising on new regulations, regulatory impact of business change and maintaining effective risk management of current business undertaken across WPB. 

The Opportunity:

  • The role supports the Compliance Advisory team enabling the business to deliver sustainable growth by supporting the embedding of a robust risk management culture. Compliance does this by providing advice, training, and risk stewardship to ensure the business complies with the letter and spirit of relevant regulations to deliver fair outcomes for customers.
  • The Compliance CoE team is a crucial part of the Compliance strategy, and, as a member of the team, this role will support the Compliance team and HSBC businesses in the following areas (not limited to): review of Marketing Material and Cross Border advisory.
  • The role holder will support the global WPB Compliance Team in all initiatives related to cross border advice and reviewing of Marketing materials.  The role holder will stay at the forefront of key regulatory changes impacting Cross Border and marketing materials globally.   The role holder is expected to make decisions appropriate to their areas of responsibility and work openly and collaboratively with their line management and team colleagues within the GSC and with key stakeholder teams (internal and external to RC) at global, regional and country level.

What you’ll do:

  • As a member of the Compliance CoE Advisory team closely aligned with the Global WPB Compliance Team, the role holder will support the various country and regional businesses in the following areas:
  • Provide cross border advice to staff in all WPB locations for queries related to WPB products, services and clients to mitigate any risks associated with WPB business globally.
  • Implement best in practice standards, policies and procedures to govern the activities handled within the team.
  • Manage the regular review process to ensure the manuals / checklists and training materials reflect the most current view of regulations across the coverage markets.
  • Support the updation of the country manuals and product offering manuals.
  • Ensure proactive communication of changes to procedures and rules.
  • Ensure timely production of MI on various topics.
  • Support the Global WPB Compliance Team in planning and managing relevant committees and writing governance papers in relation to the handled activities.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Candidates with a range of skills and experiences will be considered, with the following particularly desirable:
  • Good understanding and exposure to compliance and regulations across geographies.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and clearly articulated justifications,
  • Strong collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to think laterally and solve problems,
  • Good understanding or experience working with retail, wealth, insurance, or asset management products and services,
  • Knowledge or experience in risk management or compliance will be considered as an asset;
  • High level of professional and personal integrity;
  • Proficiency in English language

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Specific certifications in investment, wealth management or financial planning exams are an advantage e.g. CISI, CFA.
  • A compliance related qualification, e.g. CISI Diploma in Investment Compliance, International Compliance Association (ICA) certificates.
  • Knowledge or experience in risk management or regulatory compliance an asset;
