  • The role operates within the Business Consulting Job family which is structured to address end-to-end business needs. Members of this Job Family are differentiated by their capability of providing the required consultation & work with end-business by way of assessing the requirements, identifying the right analytical solution that can solve for the business problem, and developing the same for execution – often covering areas of business growth, improving customer experience, limiting risk exposure, enhancing internal business processes etc.,. They are required to, as necessary, embed agile & exploratory practices into their approach as needed, and retain the flexibility to change track to adopt other solutions based on changed scenarios, in order to deliver on effective results. This talent group can be tapped into for providing solutions for varying areas including improving existing processes, technology and approaches by embedding exploratory & analytics & taking it forward with a consulting mind set.
  • The role would support the DAO DBS Operations Analytics function that supports all analytics needs by Global operations/DBS senior leaders in making analytics/data science-assisted decisions to improve end to end business performance through process improvement, enhanced efficiency and effectiveness, creating business insights and foresights, analysing customer experience. It is expected to provide support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development and implementation, reporting and data management. It forms the information basis for strategic planning by the senior management for businesses and enables effective decision making to satisfy business needs and requirements along with addressing unforeseen challenges.
  • Utilising and understanding different analytics techniques (e.g. NLP, Optimisation, Classification, regression) and data types (structured, unstructured, semi-structured) and their utilisation;
  • Have a strong quantitative background e.g. Mathematics, Statistics and Probability and be able to perform complex queries using Data Science tools e.g. SQL, Python, Big Query, R
  • Proven experience in the field of Operations analytics and has worked on some flagship projects in this field
  • Proven experience in building and leading a modelling and analytics function in a large scale organization
  • Prior experience in building models and quantitative solutions
  • Collaborate with leaders to drive usage of analytics services by various business communities

Governance and Committee Memberships (membership of ExCos, Risk Management Meeting)

  • The jobholder will continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
  • The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
  • The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.

  • Manage analysing data exploratory
  • Manage running POCs and prototypes that allow our businesses and clients to identify new opportunities
  • Manage understanding the end to end data lifecycle
  • Manage engaging with and communicating to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Manage Identifying the best data solution to solve business problems
  • Lead the decision sciences practice with high quality analytical solutions for the business stakeholders across regions
  • Design, architect and manage analytics processes and infrastructure and define initiatives with senior management
  • Manage the engagements by leveraging current and emerging data and analytical techniques to address business challenges in an actionable way
  • Help manage unlock opportunities to derive higher returns with improved Data Quality

  • Provides motivational leadership, sets team performance expectations and monitors progress
  • Overall responsibility for supervising a department or a business unit/area team, or manages delivery for most complex assignments
  • Ensuring a pro-active and collaborative approach, building effective relationships across multiple teams and countries, and maintaining stakeholder relationships

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Functional Knowledge

  • HSBC workflow/applications and data is desirable
  • The Analytics & Data Science chapter communicates the power and purpose of Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) through the use of scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems. The Team contributes to value creation by identifying new opportunities and providing expertise to support delivery of complex analytics use cases. This includes prototyping, experimentation, development and implementation of various analytical techniques using tools such as SQL, Python, Spark and R.
  • The Data Science sub-chapter provides cross-disciplinary skills to lead data exploratory analysis, run POCs and prototypes, having a comprehensive understanding of the end to end data lifecycle. Experience in engaging with and communicating to technical and non-technical audiences and capable of identifying the best data solution to solve business problems. Members of the chapter have a broad understanding of different analytics techniques (e.g. NLP, Optimisation, Classification, regression) and data types (structured, unstructured, semi-structured) and their utilisation; these individuals should have strong quantitative background e.g. Mathematics, Statistics and Probability and be able to perform complex queries using Data Science tools e.g. SQL, Python, Spark, R.
