The Opportunity:

  • To support the execution of 2LOD Regulatory Reporting Risk Stewardship for Wholesale Credit Risk which is an important component of HSBC Regulatory Reporting Risk Management. 
    What you’ll do: 
    Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)
    Business
  • Support extensive interactions with Risk, Business, Finance and IT (where applicable) to ensure steward business requirements are clearly articulated, stakeholder feedback is considered and appropriately incorporate and all requirements, risks and issues are clearly communicated.
  • Support the management of various deliverables, such as reporting/MI development, that support stewardship activities while leading extensive analytical work to ensure key design principles are effective.
  • Oversee the reporting to the Risk Stewards, helping to identify any areas where further enhancements are requirement and ensuring a successful execution of Risk Stewards responsibilities as defined in RMF. 
  • Supporting the end-to-end process including Regulatory obligations management (covering Rapid2, REGMAP, RRIS, HELIOS) owning and evidencing completeness of stewardship responsibilities completeness against Risk management framework, through to supporting the assurance work. 
  • Support Management team and or Project Managers and Project Leads to a successful process. 
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders on status, requirements and ensure appropriate accountability measurement is in place.
  • Core expertise includes Regulatory Reporting stewardship, working with assurance , Basel 3 Reforms regulatory knowledge and design, implementation and delivery of complex solutions for the stakeholders.

  • Ensure the fair treatment of colleagues and customers (both internal and external) by consistently operating and behaving in accordance with HSBC’s values and business principle/policies.
  • To support growth opportunities and create/promote a superior/consistent customer service that benefits HSBC reputation and performance.
  • All communications and decisions must be timely delivered with professionalism and empathy, earning respect of the business line, and adding value where appropriate.
  • Develop & improve engagement with the respective Business Area in a sustainable and compliant manner. Act as a point of referral for advice and guidance on credit issues of the Business teams. 
  • Assist the line manager in ensuring uninterrupted business operations and delivering flagship projects. Lead and participate in various business projects, Data Governance, and periodic credit reporting as required.
  • Prepare for audit, regulatory initiatives and internal projects pertaining to credit risk management.
    Internal control environment
  • To maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role: 
Functional Knowledge
Academic qualification and Skills Required:

  • 7+ years of previous experience in Risk Management within a global organisation, working across cultures is essential.
  • The candidate should have both a strong theoretical understanding and extensive practical experience and should be able to demonstrate that expertise with concrete examples.
  • Proven experience and expertise in stewardship, knowledge of regulatory rules and reporting, Basel 3 Reforms regulatory knowledge and executing and delivering complex solutions for the stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in reporting (Financial or non-Financial) reporting to a regulator.
  • Experience of working or delivery lead for Credit risk or Market Risk or Capital Management or BASEL II/III Regulatory changes.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of RWA and EAD regulatory calculation and reporting requirements.
  • Understanding of the control environment.
    What additional skills will be good to have:
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for direct faceoff with Senior business partners /stakeholders.
  • Excellent Microsoft PowerPoint and presentation skills, Excel and Word.
  • Microsoft Visio skills application and experience- can aid process mapping work.
  • Experience of group facilitation to drive challenging change initiatives.
  • Knowledge and practical implementation of structured techniques to support business process improvement.
  • Experience of working with onshore/offshore model with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills with a positive personality, outstanding communication and problem solving skills to coordinate with business partners of different backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate initiative - a self-starter who accepts challenges with strong sense of ownership and accountability requiring minimal direction.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and dedication to maintain a strong control environment and ability to seek for potential improvements.
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive culture and value diverse perspectives.
  • While not mandatory, preference may be given to candidates completed MBA/CA/CFA etc.
