  • The role holder would support Non-Financial Risk team in execution of an effective risk management program with primary responsibilities of supporting the internal control monitoring plan and contributing to the control effectiveness testing. The position includes responsibilities related to a variety of risk categories and related areas such as business continuity, audit remediation, compliance, regulatory adherence, and information security.

What you’ll do:

The role holder will be responsible for the following:

  • Good understanding of the policy and procedures underpinning the management of Financial Crime Risk in MSS
  • Understanding the Non-Financial risk framework of HSBC.
  • Working within the FCR team to interpret FCR Policy and Managerial Letters, translating changes and partner with sites / asset classes to ensure changes are implemented (if needed) and understand the impact upon the business/region/country.
  • Work closely with sites and asset classes to ensure controls are designed, implemented, and operated on a consistent basis to address Financial Crime Risks.  Proactively recommend opportunities to streamline controls / associated monitoring.
  • Support translation of policies into procedures though engagement with Wholesale Business Financial Crime Risk, ensuring they are appropriate for MSS, up to date - with input from sites, asset class and second line of defense teams.  Support update of MSS owned procedures/playbooks.
  • Lead end to end pack and appendix collation for the Financial Crime Risk Oversight Meeting (FCROM) and other supporting governance across MSS.
  • Represent MSS FCR Risk specialists in relevant governance forums across the firm.
  • Lead centralized continuous monitoring of FCR controls, including engagement with Risk Stewards, asset classes, sites and record the appropriate information in HELIOS.  Respond to clarifications from sites / asset classes as required.  Drive streamlining of Continuous Monitoring Assessment processes as appropriate.
  • Assist in the coordination of FCR Control Assessments across MSS (including but not limited to, Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment, Transaction Monitoring Risk Assessment, Markets Customer Monitoring Risk Assessment, Product Risk Assessment Methodology).  Documentation of centralized global guidance, including the facilitation of workshops and drafting communications across asset classes and sites.
  • Participate in process improvement work and ad hoc projects, such as reviewing and (re-)designing target operating models.
  • Ability to suggest and propose changes to processes; driving change and participating in system enhancements, applying critical thinking skills to analyze complex risk topics and challenge status quo if needed.
  • Identify and lead analysis for lessons learned, including other relevant read across opportunities.
  • Actively participate in team meetings. Bringing solutions / suggestions / recommendations to the table.
  • Assist in identifying, assessing and management of risks and issues that arise as the control framework develops on an ongoing basis to ensure they are monitored and managed appropriately including understanding the impact to the business.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Very strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • In depth knowledge of Financial Markets (with minimum of 8 years of experience) or in at least one asset class (FX, Equities, Fixed Income) essential.
  • Financial Crime Risk (AML, Sanctions, AB&C, Tax Evasion, Fraud) experience is highly recommended.
  • Experience in Non-Financial Risk Management recommended along with thought of F2B connectivity.
  • Ability to project manage BAU Change is preferred.
  • Be able to work in agile manner, influence and implement changes and have the ability to work with senior stake holders across 1st, 2nd and 3rd Line of defense.
  • Proficient in MS Office (incl. Excel to macro level advantageous & PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal skills - experience of working independently, collaborating as part of a team and engaging with global stakeholders.
  • Candidate should be able to work under pressure and within tight time-lines – good time management and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Candidate should be highly motivated, have a curious mind-set and a desire to learn.
  • Candidate should stay vigilant on the industry / market changes to understand the risk associated with these changes and the impact it may have on the firm.
  • Candidate should be able to connect F2B and be more Outcome focused / result oriented.
  • Candidate should be able to support decisions with sound reasoning.
  • Candidate should be independent and able to present analysis with clear findings / rationale.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Requires understanding of the changing risk and controls landscape within MSS.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively and proven ability to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, work independently within broad guidelines, tactfully handle sensitive and confidential data and complete assignments timely.
  • Experience utilizing key analytics tools preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
