Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Technology supports HSBC’s business capabilities in trade and receivables financing, liquidity and cash management, capital financing & investment banking, payments, and credit & lending for corporate and institutional clients covering over 50 key global locations.

Our CIB Technology teams work closely with HSBC’s global CIB businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply, and securely, and our staff to support them efficiently.
We are looking for a highly capable and experienced Tech Lead to guide our AI and Machine Learning initiatives under credit & lending area (CIB Credit & Capital Management – CIB CCM). In this role, you will be responsible for driving the technical direction of LLM-based solutions, overseeing prompt engineering efforts, and ensuring robust, scalable AI systems are delivered. You will lead a cross-functional teams, manage project priorities, and act as the main technical point of contact across internal and external stakeholders.
What you’ll do
- Lead, mentor, and coordinate a pod of engineers and DevOps, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
- Own the full delivery lifecycle for AI/ML solution, from requirements through production deployment and operational support.
- Be accountable for production deployments, DORA metrics, and product delivery outcomes of your team.
- Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of applications and features, managing risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.
- Drive team execution, set clear goals, and remove delivery blockers.
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.
- Oversee onboarding and continuous development of team members.
- Champion best practices in software engineering, AI/ML, Agile, DevOps, and operational excellence.
- Demonstrate openness to learning and adopting new frameworks and technologies as needed.
- Represent the pod in cross-team forums and ensure alignment with CIB CCM and HSBC-wide strategies.
- Drive projects end-to-end, ensuring strong delivery ownership.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Senior Engineer in AI/ML projects.
- Experience in leading, overseeing and delivering client-oriented products.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, can present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features to business parties.
- Knowledge of LLM architectures, prompt engineering, and RAG.
- Strong coding skills in Python and working knowledge of SQL, GitHub, and CI/CD processes.
- Knowledge of Java / Spring boot.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and technology work for building NLP, ML & AI solutions experience in experimenting and developing with LLM.
- Follow AI best practices, ensuring fairness, transparency and accountability in AI model and system are followed by the team.
- Ability to develop and maintain long term relationships with highly critical stakeholders internally and externally.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven decisions to drive business outcomes.
What we offer
The pay range for this role is 24 466 PLN – 36 700 PLN (monthly, gross).
Additional car allowance in the amount of 4786 PLN (monthly, gross).
Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
