  • The incumbent of this role is accountable and responsible for managing and strengthening the FSO, Platform & User Support. The overall objective is to create an environment where there are minimum or no surprises, enhanced awareness (knowledge/skills) amongst employees, timely escalations, and vigilant monitoring of application behavior & performance, and manage incidents effectively & efficiently in a timely manner. The role’s critical success factors include managing relations within GFO (Global Finance Operations) and the larger HSBC Finance community; ability to work across teams/ sites/ time zones; influencing business outcomes.
  • HUB (HSBC Universal Banking) is the generic term for a diverse group of integrated banking systems used in over 60 countries globally in the HSBC Group. HUB as a General Ledger is used in large number of countries and is also the upstream for a number of Global, Regional and Local Finance downstream systems. The HUB FIN CoE is the custodian of the HUB Group Reporting Chart of Accounts, change lead for HUB GL related interface, Finance Engines, Regulatory and Business projects with Finance impact.

The Opportunity:

  • The job holder is expected to drive transformational projects for countries on HUB ledger and contribute to HUB FIN CoE team development capabilities

What you’ll do:

  • Assist in building HUB COE capabilities
  • Assist in designing solutions to align with future Finance systems foot print and work with business stakeholders to ensure their needs are met.
  • Drive and contribute to transformational projects related to HUB FIN.
  • Help to shape and translate Group Reporting strategies, policies and change requests into appropriate workable solutions and implementation plans across HUB systems in countries on HUB ledger.
  • Review Finance systems impacts from new accounting and regulatory standards, and drive changes working closely with stakeholders to understand enterprise-wide impacts of the change and activities required to ensure effective implementation.
  • Conduct User Acceptance Test (UAT) on system enhancements. Liaise with IT to ensure issues identified during UAT are either resolved or workaround solution identified. Ensure the new or revised functionalities are successfully released to production environment, and provide post-implementation support.
  • The job holder is required to work in a highly regulated environment working with Financial Controls, internal and external auditors. Other key Stakeholder groups include Global Process Owners, Finance COOs in Regions, Accounting Policy and Finance Sub Functions, Finance & HUB IT Teams
  • Implement an improved control framework through the creation of streamlined processes, removal of manual intervention and implementation of automated controls.

This role fits persons having an experience on:

  • Project Management
  • Perform analysis and documentation of finance processes, data, process flows, business requirements, controls, functional and user acceptance test scenarios
  • Conduct functional testing, report defects and support user acceptance testing
  • Develop effective relationships with key programme stakeholders
  • Provide input to related programme governance forums, to advise stakeholders on status, delivery feasibility, plans, dependencies, risks and issues.
  • Identify relevant contributors to the project reporting processes, and ensure they are fully engaged and understand their required inputs and timelines
  • Clearly communicate progress, issues and successes to stakeholders
  • Ensuring process and architectures are aligned and simplified
  • Partnering with IT for system updates and changes
  • Manage and plan resources, responsibilities and schedules
  • Maintain and develop effective controls and procedures and quality assurance processes
  • Manage and make recommendations to influence decision-making
  • Understand End to End production process
  • Has the ability to standardize a process by suggesting the best practices and appropriate design
  • Idea and awareness of implementing various automation tools to reduce manual efforts
  • Support Data quality issue resolution
  • Governance of all issues encountered during production run and drive timely closure of all report failures / exceptions
  • Collaborate with the Application/Infrastructure Support Team for any issues related to underlying infrastructure
  • Work with Business Users / Application Owners / Finance change delivery / Finance IT for any business, infrastructure or application change to understand / assess upcoming changes
  • Collaborate with the Application / Infrastructure Support Team during Change release
  • Create UAT test cases and deployment support for small changes

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Engage with various stakeholders to understand the criticality and customer requirements and drive requests / changes accordingly
  • Establish and maintain effective relationship with Regulatory Reporting teams to understand activities and identify areas of process improvements by implementing regular calls and feedback mechanism
  • Continuous reviews of the customer issues and ensure systems and processes are tailored on an ongoing basis to meet expectation

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • CA/MBA: (9+ years of post-qualification experience) in a leading accounting firms / financial services sector.
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience with FINANCE GL systems (Experience in HUB GL/IE, HIE, Reporting will be an added advantage), Transformation or Group Financial Reporting functions with sound technical knowledge.
  • Working experience in project management or HUB Finance process management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Time management, prioritization and ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Mature and independent - able to work with little supervision
  • Commitment to delivery, with an ability to drive activities to conclusion
  • Team player able to manage conflict and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to quickly attain understanding of new tools like xCeptor , Qliksense and processes
  • Ability to professionally and effectively present information and respond to questions from all levels of management
  • Excellent process flow chart and requirement documentation skills using Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Able to work within a changing environment.

  • Experience of leading production support of critical applications (or, supporting system/process operations?)
  • Exposure to change and automation projects & initiatives
  • Experience of large scale automation projects in a Banking / Finance environment  
  • Strong communication, navigation and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of multiple Finance sub-functions in a banking environment
  • Ability to work in large teams across multiple locations
  • Strong presentation creation and delivery skills
  • Should have eye for detail and problem solving and influencing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with team members/wider business including senior executive management and ability to develop a good rapport in challenging situations
  • Able to cope with pressure & tight deadlines
