Department:  The Chief Control Office (CCO) plays a meaningful role in enabling the bank to operate within its risk appetite, by ensuring efficient and effective risk and control management. This is achieved by providing operational risk and control expertise, conducting high quality reviews of the bank's control environment, conducting end to end control assurance reviews on key controls, maintaining robust risk governance focused on material risk and issues, and evolving a culture of continuous and consistent risk management.We are currently seeking a bold and experienced Senior Control Manager to join the CCO Tech team, supporting Enterprise Technology. This role will support the Global Head of Controls Enterprise Technology.

In this role, you will: 

  • Act as trusted advisor for senior management within the focus area on how to accurately manage their operational risk i.e. risk assessments, control environment, issues management;
  • Promote accountable risk and control decision-making based on quality data and commercial analysis, actively challenging poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviours;
  • Provide specialist risk and control knowledge and insights, leading efforts to continuously improve the control environment and monitoring of risk, including behaviours;
  • Identify opportunities to implement more automated, effective and cost-efficient controls and measures of effectiveness; 
  • Influence and shape the development and implementation of future-fit risk management and regulatory frameworks;
  • Provide Senior Management with updates on any relevant changes to policy or projects related to operational risk that have an impact on their area of responsibility.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements: (Must have Requirements) 

  • Minimum of 10 years of financial industry / consulting / IT Control experience;
  • Strong understanding and experience with Technology & Cyber Security controls and Risk Management Frameworks;
  • Flexible and adaptable being able to handle and prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to present complex issues confidently and concisely to Technology and DBS Senior Executives and other key stakeholders using non-technical easily understood language;
  • Identifying, defining and solving problems that impact on your work or the wider business;
  • Proven experience across IT, Operations, Risk Management, and / or Audit roles requiring management of diverse risk types;
  • Ability to influence without having direct ownership of activities;
  • Ability to maximise business performance i.e. developing, aligning and translating strategies & plans to achieve business and functional goals;  
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision;

The successful candidate will also meet the following requirements: (Good to have Requirements)

  • Knowledge and understanding of the HSBC Group organization is desirable
  • Knowledge and experience in the second or third line or any related risk and control role, is desirable
  • A desire to find ways to continually improve the service delivered.
  • Strong communication skills to influence and challenge stakeholders;
  • Planning and project management skill
  • A good understanding of the products used in this business area;
  • Certifications CISA, CISM, CISSP, CRISC, COBIT or ITIL desirable
