The Opportunity:

  • This role requires supporting the UAE GPB&W Business and Finance stakeholders with Financial and Non-Financial reporting. The Role Holder shall be working on the month-end closing, monthly/weekly reporting, MI Reporting including Forecast and FRP support and adhoc analysis.
  • The role holder will be expected to work closely with the business partners and act as an SME for their role and ensure timely and accurate delivery of the MI which includes Financial and Non-Financial drivers and product profitability. The role would typically involve Actuals reporting, comparisons to target and forecast, and supporting on Annual Planning and Budgeting exercise.
  • The Role holder should be experienced in TM1/ MI Actuals reporting systems and MS Office tools. Exposure to GL systems/Fusion and Visualization tools including Qliksense, preferred. The Role holder would also be required to face off with in-country Business Finance stakeholders, ensure accuracy and timely reporting with commentaries and handle related queries.

What you’ll do:

Service Delivery

Reporting :

  • Analyze monthly business performance results for GPB&W, investigate significant variances in financials compared to previous months or budget and understand the drivers.
  • Work with in-country business partners to ensure Quality of data and submissions in-order to report the Country/Global position.
  • Proactive identification of unusual trends in business performance, liaising with appropriate teams and documenting the driving factors and other insights.
  • Understand business requirements and interpret data to provide meaningful analysis to facilitate business decision-making.
  • Prepare monthly Forecast, Exco, Cost and FTE reporting, Business Performance reporting and ad-hoc analysis.

Month Close Activities :

  • Support Month End Close ensuring the integrity of the P&L and KPI’s reported.
  • Trend analysis and querying respective entities for material movements.
  • Prepare and post monthly journals for accruals & reclassifications in GL and TM1.

Exception Handling / Troubleshooting:

  • Identify Solutions and exceptional troubleshoot capabilities.
  • Understand the impact of changes on process and perform impact analysis
  • Design long-term solutions for detection, prevention and management of issues

Governance

  • Ensure service delivery of the designated finance processes per the standards set out in agreed SLAs within the HSBC operating framework taking into account key operational risk (including people & processes)
  • Ensure all processes are correctly and thoroughly documented (BC Plan, EUC, SOPs and Process Maps)
  • Continuous review of processes with the objective of improving the service delivery timeframes and identify areas of improvement
  • Adherence to Group policies, audit, controls, and compliance requirements including but not limited to Declaration of secrecy, data protection act, health, safety and security, clear desk policy.

Leadership & Teamwork 

  • Continuous review of process with the objective enhancing operational efficiency using automation tools, support Visualization and Transformation agenda and drive standardization to support the SSI initiatives.
  • Best Practice sharing across sub-functions within GFOC

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Functional Knowledge

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA) or MBA with relevant experience in FP&A, Management Reporting, Financial Accounting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Financial Systems is key (e.g. TM1, GL systems)
  • Exposure to Visualization and Automation tools such as Qlik.
  • Experience in Data mining, analysis, Financial Statements, Business Performance reporting.
  • Ability to plan, lead and implement change to Business Frameworks.
  • Ability to understand, map and change reporting process-flows
  • Good communication and ability to interact with multiple employee levels/business partners, etc.
  • Possess strong analytical and lateral thinking skills.
  • Strong relationship management skills across a diverse organization, especially with senior management
  • Flexibility to work in accordance with Business requirements – this may include working outside of normal hours
  • Ability to learn and is highly motivated to perform at the highest standard.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and work within tight deadlines ensuring a complete and accurate flow of information's between stakeholders.
  • Must be experienced in working under pressure on multiple process improvement projects
