  • Fund Admin Implementation is a global Project Team on-boarding clients and funds from exiting TPA (Third Party Administrators) to HSBC.  The team is responsible for analysing large volumes of accounting and tax data and translating the data to load onto our accounting platforms using various strategic tooling.  Prior to loading, the data will be validated through various internal and external test phases. Simultaneously the team is also responsible for setting up and maintaining static fund data for new and existing clients of HSBC on one of our strategic platforms including ICON and MultiFonds.
  • Each project requires in-depth analysis and reconciling of various reports (TB, Price, Valuation, Holding, Assets) between the exiting TPA and HSBC delivering them to a stringent deadline to achieve the respective planned milestones and handing over to Operation Teams in Securities Services Globally post successful migration.
  • Each project profile will be defined depending on Strategic & Non-Strategic Projects as well as size, location and complexity.  The team are responsible for meeting project milestones, performing data analysis, static set up, testing of systems and Proof Of Concepts (Internal and External). This team plays a critical role in sharing the work load with other locations and is equally responsible for delivering the project and achieving the set milestones. They support crucial data analysis and build enhancements required for smooth progression of projects, along with constant maintenance of static data.

The Opportunity:

  • To support global business growth by execution of fund migration activities for new business wins in both Asia and Europe. The role is of an experienced migration project lead with a strong knowledge of fund accounting who will undertake detailed upfront analysis of the funds, fund structures and reviews of fund pricing, Trial Balance accounts, and Tax and Fee Structures as well as Operational processes supporting the funds followed by mappings of the fund data to Securities Services platforms. They will provide a key role supporting the migration oversight including defining Transition Methodology documentation and migration success criteria.
  • The role holder will have direct line management and be responsible for the support and development of each team member.

What you’ll do:

Detailed migration responsibilities as follows:

  • Analysis of Funds Structures / Trial Balances and liaise with operational SMEs as appropriate.
  • Trial Balance & Asset Mapping activities
  • Testing of the migration data load process and tooling
  • Fund migration load and reconciliation activities on multiple production systems
  • Parallel run reconciliation and reviews with focus being on investigating and resolving issues to both client and HSBC satisfaction
  • Liaising with various internal and external stakeholders within the project
  • Managing virtual project workstreams for a client on-boarding

Additional key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate opportunities to improve the existing migration tooling and experiment with future tooling and applications
  • Identify areas to streamline and introduce automation to remove manual or repetitive processes
  • Support Data & Digital initiatives within Investor Services
  • Participate in wider team initiatives to support Investor Services Strategy

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Master’s Degree in Finance or other numerate subject or good secondary education coupled with relevant Experience
  • Experience of contributing to operational change across A&V (Accounting & Valuation) or Statutory Reporting would be beneficial.
  • Any prior experience of working within Change Programs would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Experience in the Finance and Banking industry environment (Administration, Custody, Trustee, Fund Services, Asset Management).
  • Structured approach to Projects as a Project lead and understanding the data analysis and documentation.
  • Any prior experience of leading a project or acting as an assistant to the Project lead supporting all the activities
  • Ability to act independently and as part of wider team.
  • Excellent communication skills to be able to work closely with stakeholders.
  • Must be imaginative and innovative with good influencing skills. Will need to be hands-on and observant.
  • Experienced in applying proven methodologies, standards and tools in the preparation of Migration and Project documents.

Candidates are expected to have:

  • Strong operational experience and understanding of accounting across fund types (OEICs, UTs, SICAV, L&P, TTF, ETF,  IBOR, Shadow accounting, Pension)
  • Proven track record of fund migration / on boarding experience essential
  • With fund accounting system experience such as MultiFonds or ICON is preferred
  • Sound understanding of fund accounting services
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a comprehensive understanding of content and context.
  • Experience of dealing directly with Clients and other Third Parties.
  • Ability to plan and organise workload to meet deadlines, taking into account relative priorities.
  • Strong problem solving skills and able to perform under pressure
  • Experience of training others and can apply knowledge transfer to new/different activities
  • Displays good negotiation and influencing skills and can use these skills appropriately
  • Ability to take decisions within the scope of responsibility (Courageous integrity / Connected and collaborated approach in gathering information to make decision)
