We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as an Vice President Cyber Security.

Role Purpose

This role is responsible for operating as part of a global/regional team within Cybersecurity to define and implement an industry-leading Cybersecurity Service that supersedes our constantly changing information security threats. The role holder is expected to build and establish trust with Country/Regional senior stakeholders whilst assisting with regional initiatives. 

Local Cyber Security requires to provide country leadership to Cyber Security in order to implement and maintain Group Standards Security controls. This involves the oversight of all projects, processes and related activities within responsible domain in conjunction with the region and global teams. The job holder will be responsible for managing Cyber security standards and policy implementation and enforcement through first line of defense activities and access management. It will also be responsible for identifying best Cyber Security practices and contributing to the development and implementation of controls taking account of changing economic/market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, and the impact of new technology/risks. It’s expected from local Cyber Security staff to have a thorough understanding on group Cybersecurity Controls and Cyber Security policies and procedures in order to provide subject matter expertise to business for making informed decisions. 

Local Cyber Security is also expected to lead the assigned Cyber Security project(s), take strategic decisions, and manage stakeholder expectations. It will be expected to operate with limited supervision, demonstrating the capability and willingness to exercise independent initiative in pro-actively overcoming obstacles to success, dealing with uncertainly and changing circumstances, such as interdependencies, opportunities and risks. 

It is the responsibility of Cyber Security to ensure that it’s actions are within compliance of Group/Local regulations to safeguard the bank from reputational /financial loss; and to monitor service level standards are met; thereby, contribute to maximize banks process efficiency and profitability through effective management of the banking system.

Principal Accountabilities:

Impact on the Business 
  • Oversee implementation of Cyber security controls according to Group policy and standards covering both technology and operation.
  • Implement global/regional security projects/program to enhance controls according to plan.
  • Provide and organize Cybersecurity related training sessions to improve awareness level of staff members; Assist with business stakeholders across the company to raise awareness of risk management concerns and educate country management about country cybersecurity risk level and actions required to mitigate/control existing risks.

  • Ensure that HSBC IT environments are protected against cyber threats
Customers / Stakeholders 
  • Collaborate with the Global, Regional and Country representatives of Technology, plus other peer managers to implement the team's goals within entity policy, expense and regulatory constraints
  • Provide subject matter expertise to Business and validating & directing country specific requests to appropriate global contact point in Cyber Security
  • Represent Cyber Security in any country level regulatory engagement
Operational Effectiveness & Control
  • Lead and manage the country cyber risk profile, appetite, and incidents 
  • Lead and manage audit, regulatory and controls related to cyber and information security
  • Drive and lead coordination with risk stewards, second line of defense to ensure cyber and information risk management is robust and compliant to internal and regulatory mandated standards.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring
  • Provide proactive updates and Cybersecurity reporting with market lens to Philippines Senior Management and various Risk/Controls Governance Meeting 
Leadership & Teamwork
  • Contribute to the compliance with regulatory and Group standards of control
  • Contribute to effective staff development and performance
  • Provide input on issues relating to the area managed and ensure that any necessary feasibility and best practice work is undertaken
  • In-depth knowledge of common information security management frameworks and best practices (e.g., ISO/IEC 27001, NIST etc.)
  • Professional security management certification (e.g. CISSP, CISM,CISA,CRISC, etc.)
  • Minimum of 7-12 years of experience in a combination of risk management, cyber security and IT jobs
  • Strong ability to influence senior executives and non-executive directors
  • Innovative thinking and leadership with an ability to lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in multiple technical disciplines and applicable security/risk concepts and methodologies
  • Previous experience in developing and implementing information security strategies and projects
  • Experience in Agile principles adoption or other best in class development practices
  • University degree in computer, electronics or engineering field.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.
