HSBC Asset Management, the investment management business of the HSBC Group, invests on behalf of HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions through both segregated accounts and pooled funds. We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Equity Trader.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Execute equity trades across Asia-Pacific markets in alignment with portfolio managers’ strategies
  • Monitor market conditions, liquidity, and trading opportunities to optimize execution and minimize market impact
  • Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and trading technologies to enhance execution capabilities
  • Manage trade settlement and resolve any trade-related issues promptly
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and best execution practices
  • Work on trading related projects for the like of automation and TCA
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, research analysts, and risk teams to ensure efficient trade execution and adherence to investment guidelines
  • Legal and Compliance: liaise to ensure all activities comply with local regulations and internal policies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, counterparties, and other market participants
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships across multiple teams and geographies, working effectively across different time zones and cultures
  • Take ownership complex queries from portfolio managers, coordinating responses across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Contribute to the firm’s culture of excellence by sharing best practices and market insights across teams
  • Demonstrate resilience and adaptability in managing competing priorities and stakeholder demands
Requisitos

Essential

  • A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in equity trading, preferably on the buy-side, with a focus on Asia-Pacific markets
  • Proven track record of executing trades efficiently in volatile and liquid markets 
  • Strong knowledge of regional equity markets, trading platforms, and execution tools
  • Proficiency in using trading systems (e.g., Bloomberg) and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements in Asia-Pacific markets
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with ability to communicate with brokers on execution instructions
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining strong team relationships
  • Resilience and ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Desirable

  • Additional Asian language capabilities
  • Advanced degree
  • Relevant qualifications such as the IMC, CFA, ACCA/ACA, CAIA
