There are three insurance entities, including INSH (insurance manufacturing entity), PINB (broker entity that distributes insurance and mutual fund products), and PINF (Fintech entity).  The three entities are wholly owned by HSBC group and domiciled in China.   The three entities are aimed to provide wealth planning products to affluent and high net worth customers via both banc, brokerage, and direct sale channels.

The Financial Controller is a critical role for Life Insurance Business in China, responsible for the successful delivery of all aspects of financial reporting. The role holder will manage:

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:

  The financial reporting teams at three entities to produce entity level reporting as well as consolidated results for China Insurance.  

  Manage the operational accounting processes for China Insurance, covering period end close, accounting controls and balance sheet substantiation.  

  All accounting issues and judgements, implementing solutions for new products and accounting requirements.

  Local regulatory reporting, ensuring timely and quality delivery.

  Group and local external financial reporting, ensuring timely and quality delivery.

  The implementation of global processes in operational accounting activities.

  Ensuring period end close is achieved in line with required metrics of timing, quality and efficiency.

  Managing a team of across entities, onshore and offshore locations to support delivery.

  The role holder will provide leadership across China insurance entity function to ensure all deliveries are met.  

  The role holder will also be the key lead in the relationship with external auditors, local regulators and will also be expected to present to the related governance body at both local and group level.  

  The role holder will provide support to the CFO in local compliance and regulatory issues and will be able to deputise for the CFO.

Requisitos

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  Understanding and experience of insurance financial reporting, in particular IFRS17, China GAAP, China Cross solvency.  

  Experience of insurance regulatory reporting in China.

  Ability to communicate complex financial issues confidently to very senior management and line management.

  Recognised relevant professional accountancy or actuarial qualification is essential. 

  Significant financial reporting experience in insurance business.

  Understanding of the dynamics of the financial statements of an insurance company

  Understanding of complex accounting and actuarial issues.

  Strong awareness of both global and local regulatory environment.

  Ability to lead a team of qualified professionals, particularly in a pressurised and deadline driven environment.

  Ability to deal with and analyse unstructured problems/queries and to question and challenge existing procedures.

  Strong awareness of process, IT and data and the ability to drive efficient processes.
