Accountabilities:
Impact on the Business/Function
- Be the subject matter expert in China for ASEAN, able to advise HSBC China clients and staff on doing business in ASEAN and presenting the firm’s capabilities to serve customers in ASEAN.
- Engage early in pitching key deals by collaborating with China GRBs and ASEAN CDMs.
- Actively identify quality prospects and work with GRBs in onboarding these names. Such prospecting includes unbanked subsidiaries of existing HSBC China clients and Chinese companies New to HSBC Group, all operating in ASEAN countries.
- Engage HBCN onshore product partners in driving the flow business, and provide sales and services solutions to customers.
- As a conduit between the China GRB and ASEAN teams for general business enquiries, account opening and CDD renewals, etc., as and when required.
- Support ASEAN CDMs in the execution of their strategies for growing China inbound into their respective countries.
- Actively track China – ASEAN investments flows (both inbound and outbound) to capture associated banking opportunities.
- Develop and nurture relationships with key intermediaries in China and Vietnam such as trade chambers and business development bodies, professional services & law firms active in Vietnam and ASEAN.
Customers / Stakeholders
- Initiate business dialogue on international business with Chinese companies at parent level to drive strategic revenue opportunities in ASEAN.
- When meeting clients, demonstrate sound understanding of ASEAN economics, markets, practices and regulations as well as HSBC’s country by country footprint and product capabilities.
- Keep abreast of external factors influencing the business (e.g. economic, cultural, political and regulatory) and act upon them as appropriate.
- Actively participate in cross border events, roadshows, seminars etc. (internal and external) to drive corridor business.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Act as the lead in China on China outbound business to ASEAN and set the strategy and tone of engagement between the relevant countries.
- Ensure the presentation of the firm’s ASEAN capabilities is undertaken in a holistic, product agnostic, country agnostic manner that is driven by underlying client needs.
- Engage with key internal stakeholders to ensure relevant buy-in to drive China- ASEAN corridor growth, identifying, resolving or escalating impediments to corridor activity.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
- In conjunction with Compliance department, to implement the Group Compliance Policy by containing compliance risk in conjunction with the relevant compliance department. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
- To be alert to operational risks and losses during the execution of their day to day responsibilities.
- To adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls.
Postulación
Essential:
- Minimum of 10 years proven and progressive business development, sales management, and credit experience or equivalent.
- Managed a P&L of a business segment/area / country.
- People management experience, including managing team managers.
- Extensive knowledge and proven sales success with the Bank’s products and services, or equivalent
- Good understanding and knowledge of ISB and experience with working with multinational corporates.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in a global environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including organisational, analytical, negotiation, communication, teamwork and influencing skills.
- Ability to set and manage own agenda, while ensuring alignment with stakeholder priorities.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
Desired:
- University graduate degree in business, related field, or equivalent experience.
- Language skills in spoken and written Mandarin an advantage.
- Understanding of local operating markets and their corresponding span(s) of control within assigned region.
- Experience of driving strategic change in a matrix environment.
