This team partners closely with business teams to drive simplification and deliver exceptional customer outcomes in Asia and the Middle East region which covers 26 markets, 600+ offices and branches, and more than 140,000 employees. By strengthening our control environment and enhancing risk management, we drive operational excellence and enable the bank to deliver focused and sustainable growth in this super-region.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Singapore Head of Performance and Transformation.

General Role Purpose

  • The role provides the Market COO with dedicated, forward thinking and strategic support and operational management support including but not limited to management of cross-GCOO activities, interacting with and influencing senior executive leadership, regulators and other external bodies on the COO’s behalf, management of the GCOO regulatory and legal responsibilities across the entities, providing operational management activities for GCOO, and execution of strategic projects for the GCOO in the market.

  • The key aspects of this role:

o   Transformation – Leading Enterprise Transformation Programs and Initiatives working with internal and external stakeholders including Regulators. Programs range from simplification initiatives, delivering digital projects to regulatory digitisation initiatives that supports growth aspiration of businesses and keeping focused on regulatory commitments.

o   Performance Services – Leading the Performance Services (PS) team that provides business management support to the Market COO and wide range of employee services and benefits. The PS Team will also drive continuous improvement across the market in areas such as Change Execution, Non-Financial Risk, Third Party Risk Management.

Accountabilities

Transformation

  • Provide strategic management and transformation support to the Market COO.

  • Deliver Change Execution – manage business or team change, either internally or externally driven, effectively and efficiently, with appropriate stakeholder communication, to ensure the Country COO delivers their required services.

  • Ensure compliance to the Change Framework, whilst acting as the SME in supporting all other change initiatives in the Market.

Performance Services

  • Provide Business Management / Performance utility services that support Businesses and Group Infrastructure – Financial Management, Governance and Oversight, Service Performance, Process Reengineering, Engagements and People Experience.

  • Ensures the operational strategies and initiatives are designed with strong customer centric focus, enhancing the overall customer experience.

  • Ensure the operational efficiency, continuity and resilience of the internal operations, procurement and real estate and that this is aligned with the overall Bank strategy. Coordinate with the relevant teams to track and escalate to the appropriate governance forum.

  • Align to Global ESG oversight and delivery priorities, including management of supply chain in line with the Bank’s sustainability commitments.

  • Drive COO project execution of global / regional specific programmes in the region, supporting Group COO strategic actions’ execution

Leadership:

  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, resilience and influencing skills up to board-level executives, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels; imperative to navigate Business and Infrastructure stakeholders to achieve the required outcomes.

  • Cultivate a positive controls culture across the Singapore COO leadership team and across the franchise to continuously increase risk and control awareness and capability

  • Assess and build the right skills and capabilities to manage the dynamic risk and control landscape

  • Understand and translate strategy from a risk and control perspective across Singapore, including aligning directions Exceptional interpersonal and management skills with experience in establishing and managing a wide range of projects, across multiple work stream teams and stakeholders of different levels, cultures, and operating models

  • Role modelling a positive work culture based on respect for people, integrity of actions, creativity and collaboration leading to increased productivity

  • Proven ability in developing and managing high performing teams with clear vision; focused on orchestrating the strategic change agenda and driving tangible customer outcomes

Requisitos
  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within multiple disciplines or a fast changing discipline
  • The role requires a comprehensive understanding of several value units / products / regions / legal entities, alongside an advanced understanding of the industry and the relative positioning of the HSBC's products and services.
  • Management responsibilities for a sizeable team of professionals (including responsibility for budget, and planning)
  • Covers a wide range of diverse activities that require complex judgements and solutions based on conceptual thought and strategic vision and analysis
  • Is proactive in developing ideas, continuously searching for improvements in techniques which add value to the business and has full responsibility for implementation.
  • Latitude to make decisions outside of established procedures but within a policy framework.  Broad guidelines are available.  Role implements strategy set by others.
  • Creates business plans for own teams and expected to contribute into value unit / region / product / legal entity strategy.
  • Establishing effective collaborative relations with external organisations is a critical part of the job.
