What you will do: 


The Operations Manager – Financial Surveillance Department & Regulatory Reporting manages the Financial Surveillance Department vetting team and provides support to Country Head of Exchange Control in the field of all transactions and products within the Bank in terms of the South African Reserve Bank’s Exchange Control Regulations, Currency and Exchanges Guidelines for Authorised Dealers Manual, FinSurv Reporting Business and Technical Specifications as well as the FinSurv Operational Manual.


In this role you will:


  • Manage as a Subject Matter Expert with regards to both Inward and Outward payments as he/she will have the responsibility and oversight of the FSD team to ensure their tasks are executed to the highest standard and according to agreed SLAs.
  • Ensure the team execute their responsibilities effective and accurately. 
  • Assist all staff within FSD to achieve objectives and goals, provide quality service to internal and external clients and participate in team meetings to achieve Department goals. 
  • Support Head of Exchange Control with the day-to-day operations of the FSD team. Monitor team’s performance, targets and escalate any issues related to team’s output.
  • Determine and analyse development needs for the team and ensure that identified training requirements is budgeted for and executed.
  • Provide technical guidance, assistance and advice to the team from an Exchange Control and Finsurv Reporting perspective – SME
  • Responsible for staff being adequately trained. Develop the team by providing training in terms of Exchange Control and Finsurv Reporting – evidence to support minutes of the meeting/training.
  • Address poor performance of any team member through the formal structures and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealt with.
  • Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognised.
