Department Profile:
· Large Local Corporates (LLC), a team under Global Banking Japan, is comprised of three units.
· Key mandates of the LLC are: 1) managing relationship with a group of blue-chip Japanese corporate clients primarily at the headquarters level; 2) working with bankers and product partners in Japan and across the globe to increase revenue from clients in Japan as well as abroad, and maximizing profitability of each relationship; 3) managing internal processes including and not limited to credit risk management and know-your-customer (KYC) through collaborating with relevant internal resources in Japan and abroad
· At LLC, senior bankers are primarily responsible for driving client communication, promoting HSBC capabilities across the globe, and taking ownership of internal processes such as credit risk management and KYC. Junior bankers of LLC are responsible for offering support to these activities of senior bankers
Role Purpose:
· Primarily this is a senior banker’ role, managing global relationship with a group of clients, driving and coordinating client communication, promoting HSBC products and capabilities in Japan and abroad, and managing internal processes as the owner of client relationship
· During the initial phase after joining the team, the individual is expected to offer support to other senior bankers in LLC in addition to performing the senior banker role
· Principal Accountabilities:
· Develop deep understanding of each of the clients and clients’ needs
· Explore areas where HSBC can offer support and solution to the clients’ needs whether they are in Japan or abroad
· Key products and solutions include cash management, trade finance, FX and other market products, asset management, debt capital markets, and structured finance (eg. project finance, asset-based finance)
· Focus on increasing client revenue while maximizing profitability of each relationship
· Coordinate and deploy internal resources across the globe and offer support and solutions to clients
· As the owner of the client relationship, develop client strategies for each client, and update them from time to time
· Manage credit risk management process, and work with internal teams to prepare annual review documents, including analysis and recommendation of internal credit ratings
· Manage KYC processes promptly as the client owner and work with internal resources in Japan and abroad. Also, help overseas bankers conduct local KYC processes by sharing necessary data
· Conduct the activities above while strictly adhering to Code of Conducts and other rules of the bank
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
· Experience in relationship management in multi-cultural corporate banking environment
· Experience of a product specialist in the fields of cash management, trade finance, FX and other market products, asset management, debt capital markets, or structured finance
· Experience in financial statement analysis and credit risk management
· Basic skills in MS Office apps such as Excel and Powerpoint
· Fluency in speaking in Japanese and English
