The Opportunity:

Role purpose

  • The role holder is responsible to optimize performance results against established objectives and fraud strategies, while ensuring compliance with all established policies and procedures.  The role holder will act as a conduit between Operations and other stakeholders in FCS, Transformation, etc. to support capability enhancements in Fraud Operations.  The role holder will contribute to the development and implementation of global standards, transformation programs and strategy execution ensuring that desired business outcomes are achieved.

What you’ll do:

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)

  • Lead multiple projects within relevant transformation programmes, such as Lines of Business and Fraud function, to ensure that Fraud Operations is ready and able to accept the impact of those programmes.
  • Work in partnership and collaboration with the global business lines and global functions to facilitate the effective implementation of change within Fraud Operations.
  • Contribute to the development of global standards and best practices to ensure day to day activities within the Fraud functions have the proper oversight and control framework in place.
  • Ensure group fraud standards and policies are implemented effectively and efficiently at market level. 
  • Provide SME support to transformational initiatives, ensuring that desired business outcomes are achieved.
  • Contribute to the assessment of needs and capabilities of operational teams through a combination of onsite visits, formal health checks, remote collaboration, and make recommendations that would drive improved results.
  • Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement, communicating improvements delivered.
  • Support idea generation, sharing, prioritisation and implementation across Global Fraud Operations.

  • Provide consultation on performance improvement initiatives through communication, operational management, development plans and reward/recognition practices.
  • Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Functional Knowledge

  • The role holder must pertain a core understanding of operational processes executed including (but not limited too) first- and third-party fraud, scams, payment/card fraud (detection and mitigation), originations, money mules and escalation to specialist investigation teams.

Others

  • The role holder is required to ensure adherence to all quality assurance controls, consistency demonstrating adherence to defined regulatory requirements and fraud operations policies and procedures.
  • The role holder will ensure the fair treatment of our customers, both personally and as an organization, is at the heart of everything we do: recognizing the value of the relationship, treating them fairly throughout every interaction and by taking ownership for fully understanding customer circumstances and needs.
  • The role holder is responsible for maintaining HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
