The Opportunity:

  • The role holder will partner closely with the Head of LC to deliver on both framework and governance activities inlcuding pack production, Helios control management, third party governance and information risk monitoring for ISV Operations across all products and utilities and all global hubs, sites and GSC locations. 
  • The role holder will work closely with ISV Operations Control Owners, ISV Operations ExCo, ISV Operations LC leads, ISV LC and other Group NFR functions, ORR and Risk Stewards to contribute to a well-connected, forward looking team.
  • The role holder will need to be deeply connected with these teams, understanding the challenges across the Operations function and will support improvements to the global framework and governance environment in an ambitious and agile manner, ensuring progression to a more standard, sustainable and optimized enviroment within ISV Operations.
  • The ability to be highly organised, maintaining excellent communication skills and a focus on delivery against deadlines is paramount in this role. The ability to influence stakeholders within the first, second and third lines of deference (LOD) is also critical, along with positivity and a can-do attitude.
    What you’ll do:
    Responsibilities on the Business
  • Understand the current Control Management Model in ISV Ops and understand the Governance structure in ISV Operations and how to support the pack production for key risk meetings.
  • Contribute to the deployment of all RTCL changes into ISV Operations and contribute to the update of all framework changes in HELIOS
  • Support ISV Head of LC for external and internal third parties, with a focus on the delivery of clearing data exceptions.
  • Support ISV BIRO in key information risk initiatives, coordinate and monitor how they are managed within ISV Operations.
  • Manage Key stakeholder relationships with Risk Stewards and ISV Ops LC members that will be actively involved in RTCL and Framework changes.
  • Work with the CCM Central Framework & Governance team to understand any changes to the control environment and how these impact ISV Ops. Improve awareness of Framework & Governance initiatives and BoW within the wider ISV Operations LC and ISV Operations
  • Support Head of LC with any changes and updates to the GMP
  • Ensure a consistent approach to work delivery and related communications to ensure timely completion of all initiatives and projects within LC.
  • Act SME on all matters related to Framework and Governance on behalf of ISV Operations LC and line colleagues; Delivery of all pieces of work on time and to an exceptional standard
  • Evidence of excellent communication and strong relationships with stakeholders without exception; Evidence of identification of opportunities to drive efficiency, resulting in risk reduction and improvement in the control environment across ISV Operations;
  • Evidence of focus on creating continuous process improvement (CPI) and sustainable change.
    Operational Effectiveness and Control
  • Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment across ISV Operations to ensure sound operational, financial and project management and compliance with HSBC policy and procedures, together with early identification and effective resolution of issues that arise
  • Support ISV Operations LC leads in driving the risk agenda across their remit, ensuring maximum awareness, engagement and management of risk to prevent control failures impacting the business
  • Regularly review risk management priorities, activities, structure and resources, optimally aligning to business needs and risk appetite
    Implement supporting strategies, policies and procedures to ensure that operational (and other) risks are managed closely and effectively, in a commercially sensitive and practical manner
  • Drive to ensure that the business inherent risk profile and any related issues/impacts are understood by the business and the appropriate actions (and/or risk acceptance) have been put in place to manage residual risk within appetite
  • Ensure all internal and external audit requirements are understood and delivered on a timely basis
  • Delivery of all risk management activities in line with ORMF requirements, including feedback from 2LOD/3LOD.
  • Delivery of value add forward looking risk outputs
  • Deliver strong, effective risk governance and reporting
  • All Audit requirements/issues delivered on time

  • Champion the importance of a positive HSBC customer experience. Measure this recognizing the importance of ISV Operations' contribution to the commercial and franchise opportunities
  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets.
  • Internally work seamlessly and collaboratively representing ISV Operations interests with senior members from businesses and functions in appropriate forums and ongoing communications
  • Support ISV Operations and senior management in ensuring the appropriate risk and control structure is in place and that risks that have been highlighted are proactively managed appropriately. 
  • Ensure excellent communication across ISV and other group functions
  • Positive feedback and no instances of negative feedback from stakeholders across HSBC.

  • To respectfully challenge the risk profile with peers across ISV Operations and relevant Global Functions, maintaining a balance between risk reward/commercial benefit.
    Role Context
  • ISV Operations supports the ISV business globally and additionally manages the HSBC Lending portfolio for sophisticated, complex loans
  • The recent establishment of the CCM business is driving the formation of a combined Operations support function across ISV and Credit Services (CS) and projects are underway to merge these teams and the 1LOD NFR risk support
  • The formation of this joint Transaction Services Function has the highest level of business and group support and will require close working relationships with various stakeholders across ISV and CS and CCM COO to achieve success.
  • This is a new role for ISV Operations and the role will require an establishment of the BAU tasks and role framework to ensure continued compliance with policies and alignment to the ORMF.
    Management of Risk (Operational Risk / GMP requirements)
  • All activities to be undertaken in accordance with the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF). 
  • The jobholder will continually reassess the operational risks associated with the ISV Transformation programme, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring, and the impact of new technology. This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring and addressing any areas of concern with the appropriate persons and/or department in line with risk appetite.
    Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / GMP requirements)
  • The role holder will adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls and will implement the Group compliance policy by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures

  • This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators. Through the implementation the Global AML, Sanctions and ABC Policies, supporting Guidance, and Line of Business Procedures the jobholder will make informed decisions in accordance with the core principles of HSBC's Financial Crime Risk Appetite.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:
Knowledge

  • Experience of working in Issuer Services or Markets Operations is highly desirable
  • Good understanding of HSBC’s risk management framework and associated governance practices
  • Good knowledge of ISV Operations control environment, ideally with a 1LoD non-financial risk or 2LoD/3LoD background
  • Deep understanding of HSBC Group structures, values, behaviors, processes and objectives 
  • Strong knowledge of HSBC’s various Global businesses and functions 
  • Strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors, innovation etc. 
    Experience
  • Experience of working in a highly organized way, demonstrating a proactive approach and a can-do attitude
  • Demonstrable ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities whilst maintaining excellent communication and very high standards of delivery output
  • Proven experience of proactive, positive and challenging interactions with stakeholders
  • Experience working with MS Word and PowerPoint to produce a very high standard of professional written output
  • Experience working with MS Excel to analyze and interpret data, and to create charts and pivot tables to present data in a meaningful way
  • Experience with influencing stakeholders (some more senior) to set and deliver against targets and deadlines 
  • Proven ability in working across multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural diverse work environments 
  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in clear language
  • Experience working with more junior team members to support them to achieve in a complex and demanding environment
