Within the GFC, the Stress Testing function supports assessment of bank’s vulnerabilities and resilience through improved risk and capital management. We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as AVP, ST Planning & Delivery. The role provides a great opportunity to manage various stress test cycles in the HBAP region, liaise with a wide range of businesses & functions and interact with highly experienced professionals and senior stakeholders.

The Opportunity:

  • This position is for an Assistant Vice President within the Stress Testing team in Global Finance Operations (GFO), reporting into VP – SP&ST. The role holder will be working with in-country partners in managing various stress test cycles in multiple countries in the HBAP region.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the team in ensuring all cycles are managed holistically to agreed timelines through monitoring agreed run books of activities, following up on missed deadlines and escalating where appropriate.
  • Developing high level execution plans to deliver on all planning and stress testing cycles.
  • Reviewing run books to ensure that a cohesive and executable plan is in place.
  • Managing stakeholders to ensure timely and complete submissions. Tracking actions, recording key decision points, distributing meeting materials and minutes.
  • Support in the standardising and managing operational planning processes and requirements e.g. instructions & documentation, run-books, share-points.
  • Ensuring processes are run in accordance with the Control framework and procedures agreed.
  • Providing accurate information status reporting, and risk and issues updates.
  • Support in the development of timely and high-quality instructions and supporting documentation for key Stress Tests and Financial Planning exercises for HBAP region.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the documentation, embedding HSBC principles to produce high quality basis of preparation, process maps and controls.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Relevant working experience in Finance or Risk function in a bank.
  • Exceptional drive and commitment; ability to work and thrive in a fast changing, results driven environment; and ability to handle competing priorities.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, including ability to re-plan, manage interdependencies and execute against tight timelines.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal) skill. Having confidence to interact with senior stakeholders.
  • Has an eye for detail; is efficient, flexible and resilient.
  • Ability to contribute to the design of an effective control framework to measure and manage those risks.
  • Significant influencing skills to support successful delivery of role objectives.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Past experience of working with Stress Testing or risk analytics teams.
  • Understanding regulatory requirements for Bank of England annual stress test and ICAAP.
  • Experience of using financial reporting systems such as, TM1, CaRT and Saracen.
  • An inquisitive mind who is not afraid to challenge the status quo, continuously look at ways to improve processes.
  • Ability to highlight problems and offer innovative and practical solutions, and drive through their execution in a collective environment and in a timely manner.
