The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly capable and motivated individual to join HSBC's Group AI function as a Commercialisation Lead. This individual will act as a bridge between cutting-edge AI/ML capabilities and real[1]world business applications, with the responsibility of driving the identification, development, and delivery of AI-powered efficiency and innovation opportunities across the business. As a Commercialisation Lead, you will lead a team of AI Commercialisation resources, partnering with business units and functions to uncover use cases, pilot solutions, and scale impactful AI initiatives. You will play a pivotal role in forming and managing partnerships with third-party providers to accelerate AI adoption and ensure access to best-in-class technology. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the AI/ML landscape, solid experience in financial services, and a proven ability to support and scale AI-driven process transformation in complex, regulated environments. This role requires exceptional relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively across cross[1]functional teams. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration, you will elevate awareness and understanding of AI, driving innovative strategies that optimise operational efficiency. Your efforts will empower colleagues to confidently and responsibly utilise AI tools, enhancing their productivity and the quality of their work.

 

What you’ll do:

1. Business Integration:

  • Collaborate with business units to identify and shape AI/ML-enabled opportunities that enhance operational efficiency and innovation.

  • Support the implementation of AI-driven process improvements within key business areas.

2. Technology Translation:

  • Work with stakeholders to translate business challenges into viable AI/ML use cases.

  • Ensure solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with current technological advancements.

3. Solution Development & Testing:

  • Partner with data scientists, engineers, and product owners to develop, test, and validate AI/ML models and applications.

  • Evaluate internal processes and data to identify areas where AI can deliver measurable improvements.

4. Governance & Risk Management:

  • Assist in the prioritisation and submission of AI models and solutions through internal governance processes.

  • Ensure solutions adhere to ethical, regulatory, and operational risk standards.

5. Scalable Delivery:

  • Contribute to the design of safe, sustainable, and scalable deployment of AI/ML capabilities within production environments.

  • Focus on control frameworks and long-term maintenance.

6. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with stakeholders across technology, risk, compliance, operations, and business lines to build understanding and secure necessary approvals.

  • Support and report on the implementation of AI initiatives.

7. Thought Leadership:

  • Stay informed on AI/ML trends, regulatory developments, and best practices in AI deployment within financial services.

  • Share insights and knowledge to foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Experience and Knowledge: o Several years of experience in AI/ML solution delivery or product development, preferably within regulated industries.

  • Experience in financial services, consulting, or technology with a focus on innovation or transformation. o Solid understanding of financial services processes and operational challenges.

Technical Understanding:

  • Good knowledge of the AI/ML ecosystem, including advancements in foundation models, generative AI, NLP, and traditional ML.

  • Familiarity with the model development lifecycle, MLOps, data governance, and responsible AI principles.

Business Acumen:

  • Ability to identify impactful use cases and align AI solutions with business strategy and KPIs.

Governance & Risk Awareness:

  • Experience navigating model governance, risk, and compliance processes in a banking context.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.

  • Adaptable, pragmatic, and delivery-focused mindset.
