We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Associate, GBM Strategy - Global Strategy.

Principal Responsibilities

This role reports to a Head of Strategy, Global Banking. The job holder has the opportunity to participate across strategic initiatives focused on delivering maximum value in GBM for the Group shareholder.

Key responsibilities:

  • Undertake analysis to support the development and track execution of GBM (Global Banking & Markets) strategy
  • Develop key insights and identify key issues / opportunities for GBM using HSBC and external sources to provide actionable recommendations
  • Effectively communicate (both written and oral) analyses across internal stakeholders – within GBM strategy, across strategy colleagues in the bank and across other functions within GBM
  • Follow-up on key projects and deliverables
  • Work with peers and alongside more senior Strategy team members on strategic reviews and to improve quality of strategic planning, management information (MI), accountability and governance
Requirements
  • Strong strategic problem solving skills and well developed analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and written communications skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to independently source, extract and analyse market data from primary and secondary sources
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Access etc)
  • [3+ years] experience from top strategy consulting firms or relevant strategy experience gained from financial services (esp. corporate banking, investment banking, sales & trading)
  • Prior exposure to regional and international markets would be highly relevant
  • Industry knowledge of Banking industry (esp. GBM related) is desirable
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills in English
