We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join the Chief Operating Officer (COO) team within the Finance, Sustainability and Group External Communications (FS&GEC) function as a Business Planning Manager.

The Business Planning Manager will support senior management including the FS&GEC COO and will be instrumental in driving the operational and strategic planning agenda for the FS&GEC COO function. You will navigate the coordination of business plans, management reporting and performance analysis to ensure optimal operational efficiency and alignment with strategic objectives.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the FS&GEC COO in their day-to-day management of the FS&GEC COO function, ensuring that their executive accountabilities are appropriately discharged.
  • Lead the business planning process for the FS&GEC COO function, identifying priorities and coordinating strategic initiatives to ensure alignment with overall bank objectives.
  • Track and manage key milestones to delivery and support the FS&GEC COO in translating strategy into actionable plans.
  • Develop and maintain management information to support performance tracking, identifying performance trends and insights and recommending actions to aid senior executive decision-making.
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to drive continuous improvement and optimisation across business processes and the FS&GEC COO function.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for the FS&GEC COO and other senior executives along with coordinating activities across the COO team and the wider FS&GEC function as required.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience working in a business planning role, product oversight or operating model delivery role within a finance function is essential.
  • Experience of translating strategic vision into clear and actional business plans, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities with the ability to join the dots; identifying interdependencies, synergies, and potential risks.
  • Demonstrable experience of both strategic and tactical business planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience of interpreting substantial amounts of data, identifying issues, quantifying their impact, and recommending mitigating actions.
  • Proven experience in preparing and presenting management information to senior management in a clear, concise, and actionable manner, effectively communicating insights and delivering compelling narratives to support decision making.
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, with experience of collaborating with senior stakeholders across businesses and geographies to deliver priorities.
  • Knowledge of the HSBC Group and its strategy, structures and processes including but not limited to finance operations and technology.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic environment with the ability to pivot plans and deliverables when required. Proactively anticipates needs, takes initiative and ownership, and has the tenacity to manage multiple demands at any given time.

The base location for this role will be London and with a hybrid working pattern.
