We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Division Head, Structured Banking.
Principal Responsibilities
In this role you will
- Manage and lead the Associates Team in Structured Banking to provide support to Deal Captains in specialized lending platform of AMH CMB Client Coverage, in driving the origination and execution of specialized lending transactions for CMB clients across Greater China
- Guide and coach junior team members across areas of complex finance structuring, financial modelling and financial analysis expertise for Corporate and Structured Finance transactions, targeting to establish and maintain a Deal Captain talent pool for Client Coverage
- Apart from responsibilities as a People Manager, the role would also act as senior Structured Banking deal captain in driving the origination of new event driven/flow corporate and structured transactions for CMB clients across Greater China, including leading the preparation and pitching of financing content and ideas to clients
- Lead transactional deal team(s), in liaison with the Relationship Manager, on event driven/flow corporate and structured transactions, spanning deal origination, credit analysis, deal structuring, negotiation and execution; Provide coverage of Middle Market Financial Sponsors across Greater China from the standpoint of financing opportunities of their portfolio companies
- Originate business by driving the identification and development of new ideas, products and solutions to meet client needs. Work with the CMB RM teams to identify and cross sell opportunities; Engage with CMB RMs to provide on-going coverage to CMB clients that are having continuous demand for structured financing solutions
- Lead or assist in the delivery of the Bank’s origination, arranging, underwriting, structuring and execution of loan products. Working with other stakeholders to deliver financing solutions for CMB clients
- Ensure robust credit structures are in place during deal origination, identifying and mitigating key risks that will secure and protect the Bank while meeting customers’ needs. Provide high quality industry / sector, competitor and client level analysis to support business development, credit risk assessment and portfolio management
- Work collectively with all CIB product partners, in driving close collaboration to pitch for business opportunities from CMB client base; Ensure adherence to all applicable operational risk standards and policies, reporting any breaches in accordance with local procedures
To be successful you will need
- Demonstrate success or potential in leading, coaching and developing a team of junior specialized lending specialists, and the ability to coach and develop team members with a variety of approach; Demonstrable corporate and/or investment banking experience, with demonstrated experience in commercial lending, and structured and leveraged finance
- Demonstrate track record in originating and executing structured lending transactions, with proven experience in complex credit propositions and complex legal documentation
- Good knowledge of bank products and services including Global Banking and Markets investment banking products; Advanced understanding of risk management and risk mitigation
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders/clients; Strong time management, organizational, planning skills, with ability to manage the competing priorities of deal flows, credit quality and the requirement to drive income
- Strong range of communication and negotiation skills, including written and verbal, and the ability to deliver compelling presentations and outcomes, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at a senior and strategic level
- Excellent level of business acumen and commercial awareness, including economic, cultural, procedural and regulatory issues; Fluency in English is required, proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua is advantageous
