HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

We have an opportunity for a Trade and Working Capital Solution, Investment Associate. This is a GCB5 level role.

Capital Solutions (CS) is part of HSBC AM’s Alternatives business and is designed to offer clients access to HSBC’s proprietary private asset deal flow. There are currently three strategies: Revolving Credit Facilities (RCF), Net Asset Value (NAV) Financing and Trade & Working Capital Solutions (TWCS).

The TWCS Strategy will invest in working capital financing investment opportunities, typically operational in nature, secured and short-term duration. Investments will consist predominantly of trade finance loans or other debt securities and working capital finance assets, such as documentary trade, receivables financing, supply-chain financing, revolving credit facilities or subscription line financing facilities (together, “Eligible Assets”)

In this role you will:

  • Contribute to the screening and due diligence of new transactions, including the review of documentation, 3rd party due diligence (financial, commercial, legal and tax structuring reports) and other bespoke diligence and building and/or testing assumptions of financial models.
  • Assist with providing data/analysis to complete fundraising efforts and provide support to the investment team, product and sales for client pitches/interaction
  • To work alongside GTS and other origination sources (both within and outside of HSBC) to structure and execute transactions in line with the Strategy’s investment mandate.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from middle office, back office (Corporate and Institutional Banking business line), external service providers (AIFM, Valuer, etc).
  • Be a team player and supportive of colleagues across the wider Alternatives and Asset Management team.

 

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong evidence of working with a Credit Analysis role and understand financial models and the fundamentals of investment appraisal is essential.
  • Have a highly analytical mindset with a good commercial lens including experience of working with complex financial data and models is essential
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills that allow you to build working relationships across a varied internal audience is essential
  • Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to take a pragmatic approach to managing tasks with conflicting priorities is essential
  • Be genuinely curious with an interest to understand different business models, strategy, the dynamics at work in different industries.
