In this role, you will:

The Workforce Planning Lead will play a pivotal role in aligning the organization's workforce with its long-term business objectives.

The role holder will lead workforce planning for GCIO to ensure that the organization can adapt to changing business landscapes. They will establish a future-ready, data driven workforce management eco-system that enhances operational agility, forecasting accuracy, and hiring manager experience through best-in-class tooling and standardized processes.

  • Lead for end-to-end GCIO strategic planning and analysis of workforce data, forecasting future talent requirements
  • Develop workforce planning models and scenarios to support Organization Design Principles, Location Strategy and workforce budgets.
  • Governance and secretariat of Organization Design Authority (ODA)
  • Partner with Group COO team to provide inputs on CRE requirements globally for GCIO in line with future state workforce strategy
  • Design and implementation of GCIO workforce processes, policies, and procedures to enable GBGFs to manage workforce plans effectively. Ensure standardization of approach across organization and drive best practice and innovation
  • Ownership of initiatives related to management of the contingent workforce (eg furlough, redeployment, tenure monitoring)
  • Own WFM Pillar tooling roadmap including MI/ reporting strategy. Partner with Group HR and Technology teams on driving tooling integration and standardization to provide best in class experience for hiring managers and COO teams
  • Staying fully aware with industry trends, market dynamics, local laws across locations, and implementing learning opportunities to drive best practices in workforce planning.
  • Collaborating with Senior GCIO COO leadership to align workforce strategies with business goals and providing them with key data driven insights to enable decision making.
  • Drive, own and promote a culture of data-driven decision-making, strategic thinking and a commitment to continuous improvement across the workforce planning team.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience in Strategic Workforce Planning at an enterprise level
  • Strategic Planning: The ability to align workforce plans with the organization's long-term goals and anticipate future needs.
  • Ability to lead and work in partnership with a cross functional team providing them guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback
  • Proficiency in analyzing workforce data, identifying trends and using this information to inform planning decisions.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey workforce plans to various stakeholders and foster collaboration across departments.
  • Capacity to adjust workforce plans in response to changing business needs and lead change initiatives effectively.
  • Strong understanding of staffing principles, policies and practices, including recruitment, talent management and performance management. 

Role Attributes:

  •        Experience: Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within multiple disciplines or a fast-changing discipline.
  •        Business / Commercial knowledge: The role requires a sound understanding of an HSBC value unit / product / region / legal entity, alongside a good understanding of the industry and the challenges and changes in the sector.
  •        Leadership: Line Management responsibility of multiple teams, with accountability for independent budgets.
  •        Problem Solving: Covers a wide range of activities that require complex judgements based on advanced analytical thought. Problems often require an innovative approach, based on extensive research.
  •        Innovation: Develops new and adapts existing processes for increased quality and efficiency whilst encouraging others to seek new ideas/solutions to day-to-day problems.
  •        Accountability / decision making: Latitude to make decisions within the value unit / region / product / legal entity strategy guidelines. There is direction from the long-term business goals with few or no policies to direct how the role should work.
  •        Strategic Responsibility: Implements business plans through own team and is accountable for results.
  •        Communication skills: The role requires the ability to guide, persuade and influence others through developed skills of communication and diplomacy, and requires the ability to negotiate and influence within their team with a high level of influence.
