Risk and Compliance bodies act as risk stewards, and is supported by a range of specialist teams, among which independent permanent control team in the Second Line of Defense.
The role will form part of a larger HBCE Risk Permanent Control team which provides independent Assurance (Permanent Control) activity in the Second Line of Defense within HSBC Continental Europe.
This role will particularly deliver Assurance activity for non-Compliance risks with reviewing and testing associated controls and processes to ensure that the required level of 2LoD oversight is in place. The testing will follow a methodology aligned to the bank’s Risk Management Framework and European and country level regulatory requirements.
What you’ll do
- Lead and contribute to assurance & testing activity for multiple countries within Continental Europe.
- Manage and build relationship with key stakeholders.
- Not have direct line management responsibility but may lead and manage other testing individuals in the delivery of assigned work.
- Support the team head to improve and maintain day to day to running of the Centre of Excellence (CoE) team and to ensure the efficient decisioning and execution of tasks, identifying process improvements and best practice.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Experience in control testing, assurance activities.
- Knowledge or at least interest in non-compliance risks such as Legal / People / Resilience / Traded / Credit / Financial Reporting and Tax / Model / Treasury risks within the global financial services industry.
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification in law, economics, accountancy or similar field.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and clearly articulated justifications.
- Strong collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to think laterally and solve problems.
- Working in a major financial institution, within a matrix environment, including reporting internationally.
- High level of professional and personal integrity.
- Proficiency in English language (written/spoken/formal); knowledge of French and/or German languages would be an asset.
