Overview of the Role

The Business Manager – People Enablement supports the Global Head of People Enablement in delivering strategic people initiatives across MSS Operations. The role focuses on implementing the MSS Operations People priorities, managing key programs such as talent management, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and driving the INSPIRED people program. The role holder will provide actionable insights through people analytics, ensure alignment with business goals and foster a high-performing, inclusive and engaged workforce.

Key focus areas include:
  • Delivering actionable insights through robust People MI and analytics, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • MSS Operations Scorecard - with a strong emphasis on people data, diversity data and the INSPIRED people program
  • Defining and driving the medium to long-term people strategy for MSS Operations to ensure alignment with business goals and future workforce needs.
  • Managing critical people initiatives – including talent management, training and development, career progression, future workforce planning and people risk oversight.
  • Fostering communication & collaboration across MSS Ops & global HR, ensuring clarity, alignment & engagement.


What you’ll do

People Analytics & Reporting
  • Deliver the MSS Operations Scorecard on people data, ensuring timely & accurate reporting.
  • Provide actionable insights on diversity, equity & inclusion metrics, identifying trends and areas of opportunities.
  • Analyse diverse datasets from surveys (e.g. Snapshot, Pay and Reward, Future of Work) to identify gaps and opportunities for enhancing people strategies.
  • Develop meaningful MI around the learning offering under the People Enablement offering – that enables exco and snr. Leaders to know where learning attention is required.
Strategic People Enablement
  • Contribute to the vision and execution of MSS Operations’ people strategy and the future of work by providing analysis, insights and innovative solutions.
  • Support People Enablement Head to drive, govern, and track the execution of the key MSSO People priorities, working collaboratively with stakeholders to align with group-wide and business-specific goals.
INSPIRED People Programme
  • Support the INSPIRED people programme, driving initiatives that align with MSS Operations focus areas: innovation, inclusion. Engagement, and leadership development.
  • Support the partnership with regional and global teams to deliver initiatives under the INSPIRED pillars, ensuring measurable impact and engagement across the group.
  • Support the development of communication strategies to raise awareness of the program and its contributions to MSS Operations culture and priorities.
Project Management & Execution
  • Lead and support people-focused projects, ensuring timely delivery of outcomes aligned with MSSO goals.
  • Support & coordinate key people initiatives, including promotion processes, talent reviews, and engagement activities, ensuring a seamless and transparent execution.
Engagement & Communication
  • Support the coordination & delivery of people engagement activities working together with Strategic Engagement
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams to align on priorities, avoid duplication, and foster a cohesive people agenda across MSS Operations.
Operational Excellence
  • Manage evolving tasks with minimal supervision, demonstrating resilience and agility in the face of ambiguity.
  • Provide input and guidance on people-related risks, ensuring informed and balanced decision-making.

What you will need to succeed in the role
Strong data analytics, data storytelling, PowerPoint development. Strong business and commercial acumen, understanding the influence of centralized functions on organisation success.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities, particularly in ambiguous or high-pressure scenarios.
  • Expertise in project management, including planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale initiatives.
  • Practical experience with business transformation and aligning people strategies with organizational goals.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, including sourcing, challenging, and presenting data effectively to senior leadership.
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex issues into concise, actionable insights.


What additional skills will be good to have?
  • Proven delivery within people enablement, business management, or COO/HR functions at regional or global levels.
  • Experience in designing and implementing strategic people-focused initiatives, particularly in engagement, culture and DEI
  • Track record of delivering both BAU and strategic outcomes within high-performing, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a history of influencing and engaging senior leaders.
  • Deep understanding of HSBC structure, processes, and objectives, or equivalent organizational experience.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational challenges and deliver results with minimal supervision.
