Your career opportunity
On a global, regional and local basis, lead strategy and planning for a Procurement sub-category to deliver competitive advantage for HSBC business through cost savings, lifecycle value generation, demand management and innovation.
The role will support the global Category Lead in working closely with stakeholders within the Bank’s Technology division.
The core responsibilities of the Category Management team are as follows:
Driving Commercial Value:
- Deliver a market leading source-to-contract service, working with colleagues and suppliers to minimise cost and maximise growth
- Drive innovation and value-add activity with key suppliers, and where possible and appropriate, supporting revenue generation through third party relationships on behalf of the business.
Third party management:
- Deliver a consistent framework for the bank to identify, assess and apply controls to the risks associated with external third party engagements
- Ensure HSBC meets its regulatory obligations
Embed ESG into the supply chain:
- Lead sustainability strategy for suppliers to deliver net zero and establish positions on human rights, diversity and inclusion
- Ensure HSBC meets its regulatory obligations for supply chain sustainability
- The role will develop influential relationships with designated businesses and work collaboratively and, where appropriate, challenge to ensure the management of cost and risk remain a key focus.
What you’ll do
- Leading the development, implementation and ongoing management of procurement category strategies for enterprise infrastructure at a global level.
- Working with stakeholders to develop sourcing strategies and tactics for procurement category initiatives. Providing commercial leadership to stakeholders, including senior executives. Developing and maintaining a global stakeholder network in a complex and dynamic business environment.
- Leading end to end planning and execution of sourcing projects, including requirements gathering, commercial and contractual negotiation and securing internal endorsement at the required level to proceed to signature stage.
- Understanding the internal dynamics of the supply base and how this impacts interaction with HSBC, particularly where suppliers are also HSBC customers.
- Driving business outcomes and behaviours with subject matter expertise to drive value through the category planning lifecycle.
- Monitoring the supplier market to identify opportunities resulting from new product offerings and/or market shifts (e.g. entry or exit of suppliers, changes in pricing, risk on category).
- Lead/ support as necessary the creation and maintenance of a pipeline of projects to achieve or exceed agreed savings target for category.
- Playing a role in the continuous development and improvement of the HSBC procurement team. Seeking alternatives to current category specifications/ demand parameters. Monitoring buying channel compliance for the business/ function with whom they own the Procurement relationship and driving corrective action as necessary.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Experienced in Technology sourcing ideally software would be beneficial including On-premise and SaaS for trading and brokerage platforms. Technology Category Management experience preferred. Experience in developing and maintaining a global stakeholder network in a complex and dynamic business environment.
- Ability to articulate, influence and translate strategic objectives from stakeholders into effective category strategies.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders and suppliers. Commercially astute, with strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Background in leading high value, complex negotiations of IT Contracts, from requirements gathering to execution.
- Able to deliver at pace whilst working on a wide range of initiatives.
- Robust understanding of third party contract frameworks.
- Results orientated, with an ability to navigate complex processes in order to drive projects to completion.
- A robust understanding of the financial services industry, including key players, strategic requirements, and key risks facing financial services institutions.

The pay range for this role is 14309 PLN – 21458 PLN (monthly, gross).
Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
