Senior IT Cost & Contracts Manager roles at GCB4 level will have a key role in managing Cost Management processes across multiple IT business areas ensuring consistent and adequate governance and controls resulting in effective sanctioning of spend. This will include detailed involvement on cost submissions working with business managers, category managers and COOs to ensure that HSBC is obtaining the best commercial deal and evidencing the cost reduction work undertaken.
In this role, there will be specific responsibility for managing the contract lifecycle from an IT perspective for a number of specific contracts, including evaluating renewals of contracts ahead of time, challenging demand / requirements and working collaboratively with technical teams and procurement to obtain an optimal commercial deal. Maintaining the IT contracts calendar for the relevant IT teams including correct articulation of the financial P&L profiles, owning the renewal trigger points and driving subsequent actions will be essential. Furthermore, support will be provided to each area to assist working towards a complete zero-based budgeting approach.
Candidate should be commercially aware with expertise in cost or commercial management, sourcing, category management, contract management or contract management and shall be responsible for creating and maintaining a robust governance model in evaluating, reviewing all IT expenditure and proactively driving cost reduction across Technology.
What you’ll do
- Shape and deliver sub-function strategy: Develop and drive the IT commercial/contract management sub-function strategy, feeding into the wider IT strategy.
- Lead sustainable growth and change: Lead global joint commercial initiatives and facilitate change through clear communication, preparation, and disciplined implementation across Technology and Procurement.
- Drive contract renewals and governance: Ensure contracts are renewed on time, with appropriate review, approvals, cost-management governance, and stakeholder sign-offs.
- Optimise commercial outcomes: Partner with Technology teams, Procurement, and suppliers ahead of renewals/purchases to optimise volumes, challenge demand/requirements, and secure best value.
- Strengthen MI and spend transparency: Support and enhance management information, including contract database integrity and third-party spend reporting to enable better decision-making.
- Own risk, compliance, and controls: Embed a strong internal control environment, promoting a risk-aware culture and ensuring adherence to relevant policies/standards (e.g., FIMs/GSMs) and external regulatory requirements.
- Build robust business cases and benefits realisation: Define targeted benefits for initiatives and develop detailed business cases (investment, financial/non-financial benefits, strategic alignment), tracking outcomes and value delivered.
- Lead stakeholder management and teamwork: Build trusted relationships across Technology and Procurement, champion a customer/stakeholder-focused culture, influence decisions, and support team capability (including succession planning and cross-business collaboration).
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Experience and proven track record in vendor, cost and commercial management including cost reduction / optimisation programmes.
- Good understanding of procurement sourcing & category management principles and operation.
- Awareness of IT Infrastructure technical platforms / technologies, execution of IT vendor management policies.
- Good understanding of the IT global delivery model and future roadmap.
- Ability to work in a multi geography, culturally diverse and time-zone separated management role.
- Excellent communications skills and ability to influence and communicate at all levels of the organisation.
- Analytical with the ability to understand and resolve problems.
What we offer
The pay range for this role is 19175 PLN - 25000 PLN (monthly, gross).
Additional car allowance in the amount of 4,786 PLN (monthly, gross).
Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
