Markets & Securities Services (MSS) provides comprehensive global, regional and domestic fund services including fund administration, global custody, corporate trust and loan agency and sub-custody settlement and services to the international asset management industry.

Fund Operations is an integral part of MSS, which primarily undertakes Fees calculations, Fund allocation, NAV calculation & validation, Pricing, Financial Reporting, etc. 


The Opportunity: (Brief Overview of the Role)

As a Senior Private Assets Specialist, you will be responsible for leading the relationship of a portfolio of clients, responsible for performing/reviewing client NAVs and contributing to the overall management of service delivery through active participation within the Management Team. You will work with Private Debt/Infrastructure/Real Estate funds under stringent timelines.

What you’ll do: (List out Key Responsibilities)

  • Responsible for perform and reviews of daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly components such as pricing, Reconciliation checks and break resolution, GAV Validation and NAV deliverables and post NAV/Client and regulatory reporting packs on or before the set deadlines to ensure the highest quality client service.
  • Working closely with the Administrators and Supervisors to manage timelines, workflows and deliverable quality within agreed SLA’s
  • Independently solve problems in valuations to provide suggestions/solutions to internal team, upstream teams, onshore counterparts and investor relations
  • Responsible for driving change management initiatives and system enhancement projects.
  • Take overall ownership for client reporting, regulatory reporting and audit packs. Interact with senior management/onshore and manage overall client relationship
  • Analyze errors and implement controls to aim for zero quality issues. 
  • Act as the main point of contact for investment managers, custodians, brokers and other relevant upstream and downstream teams to ensure that client needs are met
  • Be client aware and contribute to a successful business implementation process and on boarding of new funds
  • Lead upstream and downstream governance
  • Participate in the fiscal year end audit process and provide information to auditors as required
  • Monitor progress of the administrators and supervisors to identify knowledge gaps, and lead training and development
  • Assisting the Assistant Vice President with various aspects of team management; involve in everyday performance management as appropriate, leave management, personal and professional development of team, training and engagement 
  • Identify key risks and process gaps within the process and take measures to address them
  • Drive CCO and BCM related tasks within the process - ensure the process and output are consistent with HSBC policies and procedures and that control environment is maintained
  • Lead new client onboarding, new fund launches, and new system rollouts
  • Define operating models, process flows and embed controls
  • Lead efficiency and change initiatives, and other ad-hoc projects

What you will need to succeed in the role: (Minimum Qualification and Skills Required)

Qualifications
  • Applicant should have a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance or significant progress towards a degree or a professional qualification such as ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CISI, AAT or CMA (D)
  • Demonstrate reasonable understanding of Alternative/Traditional investment industry and knowledgeable in various derivative instruments such as options, swaps, forwards and corporate actions etc. (E)
Professional Skills & Experience

  • At least 24 months of relevant experience as a Fund Administration Supervisor in Private Assets / Hedge Funds / Fund of Funds/ Traditional Funds administration or in Process improvement with exposure to Geneva/ICON/Investran/Yardi accounting platforms (E)
  • Proven experience in reviewing NAV/GAV and reconciliation activities such as Cash, Stock, FX and other related accounts such as Futures, Collateral, OTC (D)
  • Previous experience in performing trade upload or income processing or reconciliations, pricing and/or A&V activities (D)
  • Experience in the Geneva or Icon accounting platform (D)
  • Demonstrate ability to identify and resolve complex fund issues (E)
  • Proven ability with complex spreadsheet design and formatting (D)
  • Ability to assist other staff with application and systems issues (E)
  • Ability to work on any shift (E)
