Your career opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Test Automation Engineer. You will be a key contributor embedded with in an Agile cross functional team, which driving innovation, delivering HSBC products and utilises maximum automation. You will help to drive the continuous improvement of our processes, tooling and engineering practices.
As a Test Automation Engineer your primary responsibilities will be the day-to-day quality assurance & testing automation for Accounts project. You will collaborate with engineering teams from different locations, supporting project delivery activities but also BAU post system Go Live.

What you’ll do
Work with both your team and other cross functional teams to plan and execute tests using the latest test automation technologies, processes and Tools to deliver frequently, safely and efficiently for millions of HSBC customers.
Design and maintaining automation script suites of delivered functionalities as well as create new/develop existing test automation tools and perform system, integration and acceptance tests.
Document test results by raising defect tickets and creating reports.
Work closely, communicate and plan with SVS Leads, BA, PO, PM and DEV and work closely with engineering leads and architects across HSBC and externally, to solve problems using technology which is available and approved. But also identifying new technologies and working with governance to get this technology approved, which will improve solutions we develop or buy.
Ensure that delivered functionalities are covered by automated tests on a proper level.
Participate in engineering discipline, best practice and standards compliance within HSBC and global IT.
Support other testers in the team.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
Must have skills: Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure platforms, good understanding of using an object orientated programming language, Practical experience with Postman / Insomnia (REST API), Practical knowledge about DB (SQL/ MongoDB), Working experience with Java, Experience with Maven, or Gradle, Jenkins, GitHub, Splunk, Selenium, BDD and Gherkin syntax.
Written and verbal English communication skills (fluent)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in clearly determine QA objectives and standards by analysing requirements
Test Automation Engineering experience in complex deliveries.
Broad experience of testing types, including unit, functional, non-functional, regression, exploratory, mobile, UAT, ad-hoc and compatibility testing
Knowledge what constitutes useful automation and how to write it as well as git flow understanding and working experience of Agile methodologies.
Nice to have skills: Mobile testing knowledge, Security testing knowledge, Familiarity with Jira and Confluence, Understanding of testing microservices, Performance testing: practical experience with performance tools: Jmeter, Lighthouse, Locust or similar tools.
