The MSS Reconciliation Production Team is part of Reconciliations and Fee Billing (RFB) organization covering Markets and Securities Services. The teams are in Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Kolkata, Colombo and Bangalore. The team performs reconciliations for Markets, Custody and Funds.

The Opportunity:
The role holder is responsible for leading the Manila Reconciliations function supporting Markets and Securities Services. The purpose of the role is to lead an operational team, strategically drive efficiency, scalability control and innovation in the Reconciliations activities for HSBC and its Clients. In addition, the individual will also provide Project, Change and Control Management liaison support across the Reconciliations Production teams in 5 locations. The role holder will partner with Operations, Technology and Risk teams to drive bank wide solutions to meet internal and external customer needs wherever possible.
- In partnership with the Global Head of Reconciliations Production, the individual will be primarily responsible for delivering operational strategy and help drive local and global efforts/initiatives.
- Driving the vision, strategy and ensuring the build out of a consistent and clearly defined global operating model for the Reconciliations Team
- Defining and delivering an execution roadmap that delivers incremental benefit and leads to a target end-state consistent with the vision.
- Managing the reconciliations teams to ensure accuracy, timeliness and completeness of all aspects of Reconciliations Production service delivery
- Collaborate with the Bank wide Operations, Risk and Technology teams to identify opportunities to partner and deliver solutions across businesses.
- Driving decision making on scalability, operational excellence, automation and other operational efficiency efforts.
- Providing strategic and tactical direction, mentorship and professional development to the teams under his/her span.
- Act as a global liaison on risk and function-wide lead on key change initatives and other delegated priorities.

Impact on the Business
- Ensure strict adherence to the various risk and HSBC polices that exist within MSS.
- Manage and deliver services in accordance with the functional and sector Service Level Agreements
- Drive and deliver the end-to-end target operating model whilst measuring and reducing the associated Cost Income Ratios associated with the operational activities.
Customers / Stakeholders
- Connectivity to the Regional leads/stakeholders of the Reconciliation outputs and become a trusted partner to our clients (both internal & external)
- Drives and maintains the connectivity and inclusion across the global operational teams within Reconciliations.
- Forms a strategic partnership with the Risk functions supporting Reconciliations
- Drives partnership with Technology and other support functions to achieve seamless execution of the Reconciliations product.
- Delivering operational excellence utilizing metrics management tooling deployed across all products and jurisdictions.
- Maintain HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring.
- Streamline operational procedures to minimize cost, enhance system automation and ensures service quality and productivity.
- Protects the interests of the Bank and manage operational risk.
- Strategic execution of the people agenda building a diverse and optimal operational unit

Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)

- Continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology
- Ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
- Addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with entity management and/or the appropriate department
Observation of Internal Controls: (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)
- Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Understands, follows, and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
- Ensure compliance with GSM, FIM and BIM’s.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
- Exposure to Custody, Markets and Funds Operations products and processes
- Proven experience (minimum 7 years) of leadership and management within a Securities Services and/or Global Markets environment.
- Strong knowledge of reconciliation function desired but not required.
- Strong leadership skills evidenced by achievement of objectives together with a track record of development of individuals.
- Proven track record of delivering scalable and sizeable transformational projects and change programs
- Proven track record of healthy challenge to clients and support functions
- Effective usage of time and prioritization
- Demonstrable experience of working in diverse and multi-cultural financial institutions
- Proven track record of driving teams to meet business objectives
- Ability to manage sustainable and robust relationship across multiple business lines and geographies.
- Demonstrable risk management background and skillset
