The GCIO COO function operates as the backbone of the GCIO organisation, taking ownership and accountability for all operational aspects to ensure a seamless running of the GCIO business to exceptionally high standards. Aligned to the overall HSBC business structure, focused on continuous improvement and simplification to support GCIO to a consistent high quality, GCIO COO acts as a key enabler to the firm’s ambition to ‘be the most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do’.

The Group Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is responsible for HSBC’s Cybersecurity function, fielding solutions that help defend HSBC against a wide range of threats to the business as well as it’s customers, clients, partners, and staff. The team works in concert with partner teams across HSBC, to implement novel defensive capabilities that are effective and adaptable against a constantly evolving threat landscape. The Cyber COO function partners with the capability leads across Cybersecurity, managing a cost base of $500m with 2,500 FTE.

This role sits within the Workforce Management function of GCIO COO Cybersecurity and will play a key part in shaping how we plan, manage and evolve our Global Technology workforce to meet business opportunities.

The Workforce Optimisation Manager will play a crucial role in planning and executing workforce optimisations within Cybersecurity, This position is accountable for delivering operating model benefits, including financial, headcount, and ratio improvements. The successful candidate will manage communications with key stakeholders, create detailed transformation plans, and oversee the management of business risks associated with headcount changes.


What you’ll do
    • Support the workforce pillar lead to develop and lead strategic people transformation plans
    • Support NDA activities driven by the GCIO COO transformation team 
    • Facilitate and maintain sign-off for Strategic Programmes Targets assigned by CIOs areas (# and $)
    • Manage effective communication with CIOs, operations managers, workforce leads, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment on workforce optimisation plans
    • Monitor the implementation of plans and ensure effective change control processes are maintained as necessary to meet objectives.
    • Centrally manage input into the selection tool across the GBGF to ensure accuracy and consistency in data.
    • Run various sized projects that involve multiple collaborators and deliver results that meet the success criteria


What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
    • Attention to detail and ability to ensure that information is captured in a timely manner
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent financial management ability. 
    • Ability to distil complex and varied data into meaningful information; good process analysis and problem-solving skills.
    • Project/Programme management or previous experience with major people transformation programmes
