The role leads a global team of 150 resources and manages a budget of ~$20 million for core corporate card initiatives, with an additional $10 million allocated for US and LATAM payments technology initiatives. The Head of Cards & Americas will work closely with the SVS Head of Cards for GPS, Brian Tomkins, to align technology strategy and solutions with the business agenda, while ensuring operational excellence and innovation in corporate card technology.    This role will report directly to the Global Payment Solutions CIO, Stewart Halliday, ensuring alignment between regional payments technology initiatives and the broader GPS technology strategy.

As our Global Head of Cards & Americas Global Payments Technology  you will:

  • Corporate Card Technology Strategy: Define and execute the technology strategy for corporate card platforms to create, consistency of product capabilities and client experience, with global scale
  • Regional Technology Leadership: Provide cross-value stream technology leadership across the Americas (US and LATAM), ensuring regional alignment and consistent execution of payments technology initiatives
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure that corporate card platforms and regional payments technology initiatives adhere to all applicable regulatory standards and operational risk controls
  • Service Performance & Platform Resilience: Oversee the operational performance and resilience of corporate card platforms, ensuring high availability and compliance with service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Innovation & Digital Transformation: Drive innovation across corporate card technology, leveraging digital capabilities to improve client experience and operational efficiency
  • Strategic Program Delivery: Lead the successful delivery of key initiatives across corporate card technology and regional payments, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology roadmaps
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business leaders, regional CIOs, and operational teams to align technology solutions with regional business goals and regulatory requirements.

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $250,000.00 and $350,000.00

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Proven technology leader with experience in corporate card platforms and commercial payments technology, including expense management, card transaction processing  client-facing tools, fraud prevention, and digital integration
  • Extensive experience managing payments technology initiatives in complex, global organisations with diverse regional requirements, particularly across the US and LATAM regions
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and operational risk management within payments and card services
  • Demonstrated success in managing global teams and complex technology portfolios, with experience overseeing budgets and driving strategic outcomes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess technology risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Ability to lead and influence across global, regional, and market teams, ensuring seamless execution of cross-regional technology initiatives
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior business leaders and technology partners.
