We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as the Head of Business Insight.

Job Purpose

As the Head of Business Insight, you will lead a high-performing team dedicated to unlocking the analytics value of data for HSBC's Investment and Insurance businesses and customer segments in Hong Kong. This senior role is pivotal in driving customer-centric strategy development, supporting our proposition, investment, and insurance teams, and fueling business growth in these key areas. You will be responsible for translating complex data into actionable insights that enhance customer understanding, optimize product offerings, and identify new avenues for growth. Your leadership will ensure that data and analytics are seamlessly integrated into key strategic initiatives, ultimately driving enhanced customer experiences and business performance. You will report directly to the Head of Data & Analytics and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to achieve sustainable growth and competitive advantage.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead Customer-Centric Analytics Development: Drive the creation and execution of comprehensive analytics strategies focused on deepening customer understanding, identifying unmet needs, and optimizing the customer journey across Investment and Insurance products.
  • Support Proposition Development: Partner with Product and Proposition teams to leverage data insights for the ideation, development, and refinement of new and existing investment and insurance products and services.
  • Drive Business Growth Initiatives: Identify and champion data-driven opportunities for business growth within the Investment and Insurance portfolios, including customer acquisition, retention, cross-selling, and up-selling strategies.
  • Oversee Advanced Analytics for Growth: Direct the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced analytics models, including predictive modeling, customer segmentation, lifetime value analysis, and AI-driven solutions, to enhance product performance and drive business outcomes.
  • Deliver Actionable Insights: Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and compelling insights for senior leadership and business stakeholders, influencing strategic decision-making.
  • Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with stakeholders across Investment, Insurance, Customer, Channel, and Technology to ensure analytics initiatives are aligned with business objectives and market opportunities.
  • Champion Data-Driven Culture: Promote a culture of data literacy and proactive insight generation throughout the business, empowering teams to leverage data for better decision-making.
  • Manage Analytics Roadmaps: Develop and maintain analytics roadmaps for the Investment and Insurance businesses, identifying priorities, resource needs, and potential for innovation.
  • Ensure Data Governance and Quality: Uphold robust data governance standards and data quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and accuracy of insights.
  • Mentor and Develop Talent: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of talented analytics professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Stay Ahead of Trends: Monitor emerging trends in customer analytics, investment and insurance markets, and data analytics technologies to proactively identify opportunities and address challenges.
Requirements

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in data analytics leadership roles within financial services, with a proven track record in driving customer-centric strategy and business growth.
  • Deep understanding of analytics applied to Investment and Insurance products, including customer journey optimization, market segmentation, product performance analysis, and strategic planning.
  • Strong expertise in translating business challenges into analytical problems and delivering actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement advanced analytics techniques (e.g., advanced analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, customer lifetime value modeling, churn prediction) to solve business problems.
  • Experience in supporting and influencing proposition and strategy teams is essential.
  • Familiarity with the Hong Kong financial services regulatory landscape is a must.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor analytics teams.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Qliksense, Looker, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., GCP) and cloud-based analytics platforms.
  • Understanding of ML model development, feature engineering, and model evaluation a plus.
  • Experience with data analysis and manipulation tools.

Qualifications and Soft Skills:

  • University degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline; advanced degrees or professional certifications are advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate complex data insights to diverse audiences, including senior executives.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on collaboration and influencing.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, problem-solve, and take ownership of initiatives.
  • Self-motivated, with a strong customer-centric mindset and a commitment to delivering business impact.
  • Proficient in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
  • Alignment with HSBC's values, including a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
