The Head of CIB & HBEU Regulatory Compliance (RC) Global Payment Solutions (GPS) is a key senior leadership position, reporting to the Head of Regulatory Compliance CIB & HBEU. You will play a critical role in ensuring GPS are effective in identifying, managing and mitigating Regulatory Compliance risks and ensuring timely advice is provided. 
You will be responsible for providing advice and challenge to the GPS leadership team for key business decisions, based on thorough understanding of key trends, opportunities and threats. The role requires strong partnership with the GPS business to drive and accelerate the execution of programmes that directly impact business performance. You will be accountable for the implementation of policies into the GPS business, so close collaboration with various Risk and GPS business functions is essential.

In this role you will:

•    Oversee the provision advisory services to GPS in order to support a clear understanding of Regulatory compliance risk exposure with respect to clients, transactions, and products. Assist senior management decision making and meeting their strategic objectives
•    Work with and support GPS Risk Stewards, to maintain an effective control framework and to ensure compliance with all relevant external laws & regulations, internal codes and policies and good market practices
•    Foster a strong risk and control and compliance culture. Ensuring adequate management focus and demonstrative “tone from the top” as well as proactive risk management
•    Strengthen GPS’ knowledge of risk and compliance management by incorporating it into  all activities undertaken to protect and enable the business’ activities through a robust risk management understanding
•    Act in accordance with HSBC’s purpose and values, being cognisant of all applicable local legal, fiscal, regulatory and shareholder requirements as they relate to the Regulatory Compliance sub- function and the operations of HSBC
•    Champion a culture that prioritises the fair treatment of all customers, including particular attention to those who are vulnerable or have changing needs, whilst also ensuring that governance, processes and systems support staff to meet the needs of all customers
•    Work proactively and collaboratively with all the CIB Regulatory Compliance teams to provide oversight of the risk management framework to enhance, standardise and integrate the various risk activities including the implementation of strategic projects and systems

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

•    Proven experience working within Risk & Compliance in a Leadership role is mandatory
•    A broad and deep understanding of GPS business, regulatory rules and laws, industry issues, business operations and priorities
•    Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to partner with colleagues across GPS, Comoliance and the broader organisation
•    The ability to identify major changes in regional / country-specific regulatory / statutory norms and ensure these are implemented
•    A strong understanding of the impact of macroeconomic trends, and the ability to continuously adapt the Compliance sub-function’s support and activities based on risk, business needs and Group’s strategy.
•    A deep understanding of what it means to be a Risk Steward
•    Extensive experience within risk identification, management, reporting, escalation and regulatory governance
