If you’re looking to take an exciting new direction with your HSBC career, an internal move can open the door to many opportunities, allowing you to take on a new challenge, and develop your skills. Bring your knowledge of our brand to a new role and grow yourself further.

A move across the business allows you to continue to access tailored professional development opportunities, and our fantastic benefits packages.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Head of Climate Change Scenario Analysis.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate, support and navigate the Bank in achieving its ambition to reach net zero. It is part of the Capital Management and Stress Testing (CMST) team within the Treasury department. The CMST team is responsible for first line of defence activities related to Group and regional stress testing and scenario analysis activities including Climate Change Scenario Analysis as well as Nature Scenario Analysis, responsible for embedding Climate (and, in future, Nature) into Treasury and Finance processes and supporting Risk and Business.
  • You will lead the application of Climate and Nature scenarios, addressing regulatory changes, market shifts, transition and physical risks (e.g. extreme weather events, long-term climate shifts) as well as strategic risks and implications, ensuring these risks are integrated into the Bank’s core processes (e.g. Financial Resource Plan, IFRS9, Internal Stress Test, Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process, Recovery & Resolution Planning, Internal Climate Scenario Analysis (ICSA), overall risk management framework, business decision making and financial as well as capital planning.
  • You will support the Global Head of Scenarios Analysis in design and execution of internal and regulatory-driven Climate change and Nature scenario analysis, supporting various use cases and informing key decisions.
  • This requires deep understanding and practical experience of designing, executing and delivering complex regulatory & internal stress tests. The insights gained will help the Bank assess the resilience to risks posed by climate change and Nature, and opportunities that it brings. Additionally, the role supports HSBC’s broader climate change and Nature ambitions by understanding clients’ contributions to climate change through its own or value chain emissions and quantifying progress toward HSBC’s net-zero goals. These insights are critical for internal decision-making, strategic steering, and finance/treasury planning activities as well as external regulatory expectations (e.g. PRA’s SS3/19 or CP10/25 or ECB Climate risk management policies).
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience of designing, delivering and execute regulatory and internal stress tests.
  • Deep, practical experience of at least one of FRP, Stress Test, ICAAP, ICSA and/or Recovery Planning.
  • Sound understanding of the Group’s strategy on Climate Change/ Nature.
  • Sound understanding of Climate and Nature Risks and Opportunities in the banking, insurance or asset management.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks including TCFD, PRA & Other regulatory stress tests, international climate reporting standards, & capital management related.
  • Expertise in handling large datasets, integrating climate-related data into financial risk models.
  • Demonstrable experience of directing, navigating, inspiring and motivating a team.
  • Collaborative, engaging, credible and methodical; being able to bring the policy, strategy, initiatives and narrative to life (e.g., board level reporting/ presentations to a wide range of stakeholders/ senior management).
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders (all levels of seniority, businesses, and geographies).

The base location for this role will be London and with a hybrid working pattern.
