We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Commercialization - Customer and Products, Data and AI - IWPB.
Role purpose
Reporting into the Head of Data & AI Capabilities, IWPB, this is a global leadership position for Customer & Product driving the strategy for Data and AI, its effective usage by the businesses and providing business direction to the technical development required to support the strategy and usage. The role holder will have direct accountability for all Customer Proposition and product commercialization through Data Products for the businesses as well as for transforming Data and AI into a source of sustainable, global competitive advantage for IWPB and is accountable for the revenue outcomes from the capability.
The role holder will be accountable for all aspects of the Data and AI function for Customer & Products. In particular, he/she will support Customer Segments & Propositions (CSP) and International within CCO, Wealth and Premier Solutions (WPS) within COO, as well as GPB and Insurance and will be responsible for driving best practices in developing, and implementing the Data & AI roadmap, leading and coordinating the development and deployment of new capabilities as well as growing the Data & AI talent pool.
The role holder will generate business profitability and grow market share by supporting across the business with best practice and industrial implementation of various capabilities with the aim of understanding customer needs better, improving customers experience, better prediction of risk and creating operational efficiencies.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing Data & AI transformational agenda to enhance business value.
- Providing thought leadership in designing and implementing next-generation strategies for IWPB.
- Industrial implementation of standardized Data & AI delivery model to support key strategic IWPB initiatives to drive a significant uplift in profitability
- Accountable for the design of data driven frameworks for driving Proposition and segment strategies and using internal and external data for International customers identifying opportunities across priority International markets.
- Partner launch of new propositions and support design CLCM interventions to drive Growth agenda.
- Monitor key KPIs across customer acquisition, product penetration, NPS and profitability drivers and recommend course correction based on data signals.
- Lead Data & AI practice, focused on Retail (deposits, FX, cards, loans, mortgages, and pricing) as well as Wealth Management products.
- Design Data commercialization strategy for GPB segment covering HNW and UHNW clients as a global business, expanding the application of Data & AI towards cutting-edge client experiences and advisory augmentation
- Industrial implementation of standardized data and AI enablers to support acquisition, cross sell, upsell, retention and win back programs for the wealth/savings/FX/lending products to drive a significant uplift in revenue.
- Responsible for establishing consistent, best-in-class HSBC Insurance Data and AI capability across all insurance markets including our 7 priority manufacturing markets and key distribution markets.
- Partner with Senior Group & Regional stakeholders to define and scope Global Insurance Data & AI strategy and priorities relevant to business, design Insurance Data & AI agenda on annual and ongoing basis and mobilize direct teams and other resources in the CoE to carry out such plan.
- Support Data & AI strategy for strategic, inorganic growth opportunity from Group oversight perspective.
- Provide expertise and guidance to proposing & formulating Data and AI that can directly address business concerns & priorities and see to proper implementation.
- Proactively promote and demonstrate the value of Data and AI in a business transparent way via effective communication and rigorous tracking.
- Responsible for the establishment of common KPIs and measurement across business areas.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Define standards of performance and work collaboratively to ensure these are achieved.
- Accountable for leading the team and removing barriers to industrializing and institutionalizing best / common practices across IWPB.
- Provide the personal leadership required both within the CoE and across markets.
- Directly manage or guide/influence teams of Data and AI specialists highly trained in the conceptualization, development, and implementation of result-oriented, advanced solutions.
- For directly managed teams, ensure proper skill mix, team structure and resources are in place to support Data & AI strategy and planning, whilst catering for both skills and career development.
- For project-based teams, guide solution design and development, articulate tangible deliverables, monitor progress, and ensure on-time delivery.
- Ensure all Data & AI activities yield measurable benefits via tracking.
Functional Knowledge
- Post Graduate master’s degree or bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative Discipline.
- Regional exposure and previous experience with multi geography team management of Data and AI teams.
- Extensive skills in strategy development, marketing, quantitative analysis, product profitability modelling and financial analysis, across multiple financial product categories and customer segments.
- Effective in cross-border collaboration, orchestrating cross-entity analytics initiative, managing on-/off-shore team seamless in planning and delivery.
- Deep technical knowledge of customer segmentation, digital analytics, retail product analytics, Insurance & Wealth, predictive modelling, portfolio analytics, data mining development and applications, and market/industry reviews for strategy formulation.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Deep exposure and experience with customer lifecycle management.
- Proven experience delivering complex programs and initiatives simultaneously, including exposure to change management, process improvement techniques and business case development.
- Prior experience delivering advanced capabilities such as price elasticity modelling and marketing mix modelling, predictive underwriting.
- Experience partnering with digital teams to embed ML /AI capabilities into customer and staff facing experiences.
