We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Head of Wealth Insurance Distribution & Academy.

Job Profile

The Head of Wealth Insurance Distribution & Academy is a senior leadership position in HSBC Life Hong Kong (INHK), a key business driver within HSBC’s International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) Insurance. The role will report to Chief Distribution Officer (CDO) and is an integral part of the INHK bancassurance distribution model. To build and lead a holistic and sustainable distribution strategy, the candidate will spearhead a team of Business Development Managers and its middle office dedicated to drive the development of distribution channels and their people with respective channel owners within the HK and Macau business, as well as to oversee the award-wining Insurance Academy to grow frontline talents, develop learning solutions to foster learning culture (e.g. overseas learning convention).

The role holder is expected to collaborate closely with various channel owners, especially Retail Distribution, and interact extensively with INHK internal teams, such as Products, Medical Health, Underwriting, Second Lines of Defence and other stakeholders to drive business and strategic initiatives forward.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Drive sustainable and profitable wealth insurance growth and achievement against FRP and other targets while effectively deliver fair customer outcomes / experiences, manage financial and non-financial risk, and comply with audit, legal and regulatory requirements, with primary focus in branch network as the major revenue driver, alongside with other channels 
  • Actively contribute to the development and execution of INHK strategic initiatives, by channelling frontline / customer voices to business stakeholders for improvements, building innovative distribution model to expand business opportunities / deepen product penetration etc.
  • Lead the Business Development Manager team to enhance channel performance and salesforce productivity, through professional, in-depth and tailored coaching, pre-/post-case and joint call support, new joiners activation etc. across all INHK distribution channels
  • Foster a culture of sales excellence and maximise people value through implementing structured onboarding programs, providing timely market insights, delivering new product updates etc.
  • Cultivate a continuous learning culture and mindset for staff and different talent groups within INHK, encouraging self-improvement through interactive and engaging learning topics, sessions and workshops
  • Strengthen INHK leadership profile, presence and visibility through participating in various industry training awards, and facilitating frontline participation in industry sales awards.
Requirements
  • Extensive years of senior leadership and people management experiences and capabilities in the insurance / banking / financial industry and reputable large organizations
  • Strong strategic mindset to capture opportunities and navigate complexities in a highly competitive environment, to sustain INHK market leadership
  • Extensive knowledge of bancassurance business, retail customer segments and latest industry developments, to proactively identify sensitivities / risks, come up with tangible solutions 
  • Relentlessly committed with vision and passion to drive effective and innovative distribution strategy and people initiatives that underpin it
  • Proven track record to build trust with and influence senior stakeholder groups to achieve desired outcome
  • Develop and motivate a high performing, resilient and agile team to action
  • University Degree in Business / Finance or other relevant disciplines/qualifications. Proficiency in Cantonese, English and Mandarin
