This job entails for the Investment Manager to carry out oversight on the outsourced investment management activities through monitoring and reporting of the investment portfolios. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer (Insurance) the jobholder will play a key role in driving the HSBC Life Assurance (Malta) Ltd investment function.

Are you keen to learn the investment side of an insurance business? Do you enjoy working with data on Excel software? In this role you will:

  • Manage the reporting of the investment function.
  • Monitor the investment portfolio and ensure that exposures are within limits contained in Market Risk, Credit Risk,Mandates and other constraints.
  • Monitor the performance of the asset managers under the Investment Management Agreements.
  • Develop and submit recommendations for the annual market and credit risk mandates and amendments thereof as necessary for the approval of Group Insurance.
  • Provide support in the review and implementation of the Investment Policy and Investment Strategies.
  • Support the Chief Investment Officer on the undergoing/planned projects within the Investment Function.

You should apply if you have:

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience and knowledge on different investment vehicles and markets.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate with stakeholders internally and externally on a global basis.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical ability to interpret investment data and exercise a good degree of judgement;
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Additional professional qualifications in Finance, Insurance or Investment is an asset.
