Background:

  • The Process re-engineering team in Financial accounting  (FA) is aiming to collaborate on process review initiatives and encourage operational effectiveness within the function. The solution entails process automation, identification of duplicates by pattern matching and meta data analysis to a consolidation/collaborative solution for enhanced controls implementation. The incumbent of this role will be an analyst/developer who is hands on with delivery of automation initiatives and has expert/advanced level of knowledge on Microsoft Power Automate, Python, GitHub and SQL.
  • The role will also include technical evaluation of current problem statements, data collation, management reporting, solution development, change and other implementation activities. This role would be expected to be at the centre of how Finance Operations shapes, delivers and embeds automation changes, working with the business and our other delivery partners.

The Opportunity:

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)

  • The role is expected to work collaboratively with project/program managers, internal process and business, external vendors, delivery partners including IT/ITID and subject matter experts to support and deliver targets as per Term of Reference (ToR), achieving milestones as per respective Project plans. Perform business analysis which entails translating business requirements & designs into detailed functional requirements followed by development of a technical solution.
  • The role will lead to the candidate work in the build, data collation, analysis activities would also be in scope, initiation, requirements management and developing solution designs for problem statements involving the requirements of EUC reduction, effort saves & strengthening the controls.
  • The role will also encompass project management activities such as change planning and audience analysis; through to designing and delivering change interventions (e.g. communications, training, support, organisation alignment); and tracking and taking actions on change readiness, adoption, and feedback as prescribed by Change Governance Framework.
  • Understanding and interpreting the data calculations and validation within the application.
  • Evidencing a proactive approach – it is fundamental for this role that all stakeholders are kept informed of the progress of issues raised towards resolution.
  • Work within an agile delivery framework – Keep oneself up-to date with latest industry practices within the Cloud, data science & programming arena.
  • Stay up-to-date with new developments in the field of technology and analytics,
  • Highly focused on project delivery, attention to detail
  • Work with multiple customers/functions on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver in a timely, efficient and effective manner.
  • Demonstrate strong sense of ownership and accountability on projects through developing basic project management skills and regular communication with internal project managers and business stakeholders.
  • Responsiveness to stakeholder queries and independently resolve issues and queries pertaining to projects / reports

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Knowledge of finance functions such as accounting, reconciliation and reporting in the financial services sector.
  • Understanding of SOX controls and user security framework would be required
  • Strong/Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Automate, VBA macros, Python, SQL/Oracle, GitHub, Qlik and other Process Automation tools is imperative
  • Strong understanding pertaining to meta data architecture, definition, analysis and management
  • Have an aptitude to support multi-dimensional projects in a banking environment both of a technical and a non-technical nature and speak to both technical and business users and arrive at solutions/agreements.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum support and guidance.
  • Good analytical, presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently perform complex data analysis on Excels / Python / R tool and should be hand on with VBA macros and processing automation tools and languages like Python (advance/expert level)
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, report to tight deadlines and deal effectively with issues as they arise.
  • Moderate facilitation and leadership skills which promote a team environment.
  • Ability to independently drive workshops covering on-boarding, facilitation meetings with BRCM and Change and Implementation Management activities.
  • Experience managing, negotiating and influencing senior business relationships

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Experience of leading and executing large scale process automation projects in Banking / Finance industry
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with team members/wider business including senior executive management and ability to develop a good rapport in challenging situations
  • Ability to work in large teams across multiple locations and able to cope with pressure & tight deadlines
  • Strong presentation creation, delivery, problem solving and influencing skills
  • Assertive, with a positive attitude and an open mind
  • Experience in working/trouble shooting Microsoft Excel and VBA/Macros/SQL based technical and non-technical solution implementations
  • Should have worked previously on databases e.g. MS Access, Oracle etc. and should be comfortable with query processing language e.g. SQL an IT environment.
  • Should have experience in producing and processing MI and reporting using excel based large data sets.
  • Experience in working on advanced statistical programming languages like Python and R
  • Should have exposure on various automation tools like Xceptor, Advance Python
  • Experience in administration and working of Microsoft Server, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Audit and Control Manager (ACM) and Discovery and Risk Assessment (DRA) would be an added plus.
  • Experience in administration and working of ROAMBI visualization tool would be an added plus.
  • Should be well versed with prevalent industry specific documentation standards and should have the ability to quickly learn and adopt HSBC’s prescribed Business Transformation Framework (BTF) standard.
  • Experience in executing and supporting User Acceptance Testing/Business Readiness Testing scenarios.

Technical Skills Sets (Below listed technical know-how is essential for the role)

  • Tools / Languages - Advance Python, Microsoft Power Automate, Automation tools etc.
  • Visualization tools -  Qlik, Power BI, Tableau, SAS VA
  • General Ledger Systems -  Oracle, SAP, Fusion
  • Relational Database – Oracle, SQL, Big Data
  • Strong knowledge of VBA macros, scripting / coding
  • Good to have – Knowledge of PowerShell, Unix / Linux commands

Qualifications and Experience

  •  MCA/MBA/BCA/ /B Tech: (2-4 years of post-qualification experience) in a leading accounting firms / financial services sector.
  • Experience in participating in internal / external Systems audits

 Preferred

  • Qualified Automation expert/Developer
  • Qualified process improvement professional (all designations)
  • Standard Industry Certifications/Qualifications preferred
