The Opportunity:

• The RFP Writer role is critical to the new business process, playing an instrumental role in the achievement of HSBC Asset Management’s (AM) growth ambitions.
• The RFP Team leads and completes RFPs, RFIs and Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs) for Institutional and Wholesale clients and consultants globally and encompassing a wide and diverse range of asset classes, investment strategies and funds.
• Works closely with internal stakeholders/subject matter experts to ensure high quality articulation to clients of HSBC AM’s investment philosophy, capabilities, processes, investment vehicles and the firm’s competitive advantages.
• Partners with RFP colleagues in other regions to support cross-border DDQs, RFIs and other client documents.
• This role offers the opportunity to develop advanced RFP skills and knowledge of HSBC’s capabilities, working closely with experienced and senior team colleagues, and to take on expanded responsibilities and projects over time.

What you’ll do:

• Based in Bangalore but has global and regional support responsibilities in the context of the global RFP function. 
• The operating environment is driven by client needs, often involving significant cross-border collaboration with RFP Team colleagues in other regions; and willingness to work flexible hours when needed. 
• Client documents such as RFPs, RFIs and DDQs are content- and data-intensive and usually have tight deadlines that are not set by RFP. This requires constant and careful work planning and management, managing the expectations of stakeholders, clear communication, and attention to detail. 
• It also often requires problem-solving skills relating to interpretation and data availability, to produce high quality client documents in a limited timeframe.

Leadership & Teamwork 

• The role holder will be working in individual capacity.
• Cross-border collaboration with RFP and other HSBC Asset Management colleagues.
• Shares information (including best practices) openly and globally in a timely manner.
• Opportunity to work directly with Investment Specialists and SMEs.

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Technical

• Detailed knowledge of RFPs, RFIs, DDQs and related client documents, including regulations, compliance requirements and delivery processes.
• Sound understanding of investment products and markets and client requirements.
• Good knowledge of performance systems, reporting systems, third-party performance databases and institutional reporting standards (i.e. GIPS).
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office tools.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills. Further language skills, such as French, German, Chinese or Japanese would also be an advantage, but not essential.

• Strong communication skills in English, including investment writing and oral discussion / presentation.
• Strong project, organisational and time management skills; ability to multi-task on ongoing basis.
• Ability to work effectively in a deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and their sometimes conflicting expectations and requirements.
• Attention to detail, commitment to high quality work standards and the ability to ensure those standards are maintained under time and stakeholder pressure.
• Team player: willingness to share knowledge and also learn from others.
• Leadership spirit to take full responsibility for delivering the documents required; ability to build consensus between departments with different objectives.
• Able to prioritise effectively and maintain positive attitude in fast-moving work situations.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum 3-8 years of experience in asset management industry.
• Qualification - Post Graduation / MBA (Finance) / or equivalent qualification; CFA, FRM, ESG Certification - (completed or pursuing).

What additional skills will be good to have?

• Delivering high quality client documents in short timeframes with finite resources.
• Dealing with demanding and sometimes conflicting stakeholder / internal client requirements and priorities.
• Working with a broad range of stakeholders / internal clients in different HSBC Asset Management functions and offices.
• Navigating complexity in a fast-evolving industry and firm, e.g. new focus areas such as Alternative Investments, Sustainability and ESG.
• Identifying ways to improve everyday work methods and processes to improve efficiency and service.
