The Opportunity:

  • The specific opportunity is to manage the Central Administration and Custody oversight process, monitor the activities of our delegates in line with the CSSF and CBI guidelines for the HSBC Investment Funds (Luxembourg) S.A. Funds with a particular focus on HSBC Irish ETF and ICAV domiciled funds. Individual is expected to assist with the supervision and monitoring of the delegated functions. Partner with HSBC Investment Funds (Luxembourg) [HIFL] and HSBC Management (Guernsey) Limited delegates, legal, compliance and operations to ensure that the management company complies with regulatory requirements, due diligence policies and HIFL internal rules and procedures. Our key stakeholders are in Asia and Europe, and we are in a hybrid working model (2-3 days in office every week). Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are required for this role and candidate should have extensive knowledge of Fund Management business and regulatory requirements of the industry. Ability to plan and organize effectively as well as inclination towards change is required.

What you’ll do:

  • Administration, investigation and resolution of daily Transfer Agent, Administrator and Custodian queries as well as managing queries of the AMG Investment Management and Distribution offices.
    Work closely with TA, Administrator and Custodian to ensure timely and accurate processing and settlement of transactions in accordance with the Service Level Agreement.
  • Assist with due diligence and management of third parties; Develop and maintain governance oversight over all operational aspects of the funds.
  • Have a risk management mind-set - monitor and enhance the controls of delegated and outsourced provider activities – be involved in client service level reviews, setting up/monitoring KPI/SLAs, reporting on incident review; Maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of risk events.
  • Assist HIFL, HMG and the Conducting Officers in their responsibility for complying with all relevant Regulations, HSBC Group policies and other regulatory requirements in relation to oversight obligations. 
  • Interact with different AMG lines of business to help with the development and the ongoing operations of fund
  • Input to the regular Service Reviews of third-party Service Providers specially those based in Ireland
  • Oversee activities performed by third parties Central Administration and Custody.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the HIFL/HMG(Alts) product range with a focus on the Irish ETF and ICAV Fund ranges, including product type, investor profile and regulatory framework and apply this to vendor oversight responsibilities.
  • Maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of risks materializing, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting.
  • Maintain awareness of Compliance functions and build an effective working relationship with HIFL’s regulatory and financial crime compliance personnel including formal reporting as appropriate.
  • The individual is expected to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent team player who could exercise any/all delegated authorities with due care and diligence. Balance the need to assist HIFL in complying with all relevant Regulations (i.e. Luxembourg and Ireland), HSBC Group policies and other regulatory requirements
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • 7+ years of experience in the Asset Management industry
  • Must have experience in operations of UCITS Public market/private market i.e. ETF, ICAV, etc. Fund structures.
  • Experience in operations within AIF fund environment with experience in fee and Invoice recommendation and settlement processes.
  • Strong understanding of NAV processes and oversight, accounting principles and fund structures.
  • Basic understanding, verifying daily unit counts, reviewing financial statements, and coordinating with internal and external auditors. 
  • Sound knowledge of fund/mandate fee structures and invoice validation processes.
  • Through knowledge of the Asset Management business and Operational Risk Frameworks and Controls
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in funds services, with proven knowledge of Transfer Agency, Custody and Fund Administration.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure, while maintaining close attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all areas of the business independently with minimal supervision.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Experience in managing/overseeing third party service providers and administrators would be an added advantage.
  • Experience in Luxembourg and Irish UCITS Funds and Funds regulatory requirements would be good.
  • Degree in Accounting, MBA in Finance.
