The Opportunity:

Role purpose

  • The role operates within Fraud & Credit Services (FCS) is a first line of defense control function in WPB (Wealth & Private Banking), with the core purpose of supporting the end-to-end customer credit journey and creating sustainable outcomes for the Customer and the Bank.
  • Fraud & Credit Decision Systems under WPB Fraud & Credit Services (FCS) is responsible for the delivery and support of the Credit &   Fraud risk management platforms, tools and data across HSBC. The team also serves as a Decision Engine CoE (Centre of Excellence) for multiple Account Originations/Management and Fraud Risk systems including the Credit Bureau Management. We facilitate the deployment of account originations and management strategies through the FIM approved decision eco-system. The team would need to interface heavily between the Information Technology team and the business end users (including Risk & Product functions).
  • The Product Owner is responsible for owning portfolios of work and managing the respective stakeholder relationship. In this role the individual will own the overall vision and roadmap of the Decision System team(s), proactively find new opportunities, bring together resources, and drive delivery. The Product Owner will need to be familiar with the capabilities within Decision eco-system. Prior experience of managing delivery using SASID, Powercurve, or another Decision System tool, will be useful.

Governance and Committee Memberships (membership of ExCos, Risk Management Meeting)

  • The Product Owner would be required to represent Decision Systems in all relevant governance and committee meetings (e.g. SWG).

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g. for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining data driven solutions to assist WPB businesses in achieving profit and growth targets.
  • Effectively project managing teams and stakeholders.
  • Exceeding stakeholders’ and customers’ expectations by delivering innovative and accurate results.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders across all levels.
  • Deliver the FCS Decision Optimization program objectives related to development and implementation of Machine learning models, access to new external data and improvement of Credit Straight through processing, Turnaround time etc.
  • Managing an array of projects, working with a team of Analysts for the project delivery.
  • Implement best practices and standardize the change management process across
  • Work scope will be all Credit Account Management outcomes, for various portfolios under WPB UK (home market).
  • Primary work delivery will be focussed around solutions for implementing Account Management strategies. However there will be opportunities to gain exposure into other areas of Credit Decisions as well.

  • Enthusiasm for proactively seeking, exploring, and developing use cases for new data and/or tools/wider industry trends
  • Experience working across multiple geographical regions desirable
  • Proven ability to work in a matrix multi-national operating structure
  • Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and business sponsors
  • Strong people and team management experience
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Functional Knowledge

  • Min. 12+ Year of relevant experience. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from reputed university with specialization in numerical discipline.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/Retail banking-operations
  • Must have lead projects in Credit Lending Landscape.
  • Exposure to Banking Analytics or equivalent experience in Business, Finance or related field. Knowledge of decision systems.
  • Should understand credit lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  • Experience on Vendor Decisioning or Analytics product(s) is preferred. E.g. Experian PowerCurve, SMg3, SAS Decision Manager, SAS Intelligent Decisioning, SAS Viya, Provenir etc.
  • Experience on Cloud, Digital Technology and Cognitive/AI platforms will be an added advantage.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability to change and changing work priorities and ability to drive results
  • Experience with Agile/iterative process in the context of project tracking and reporting. Exposure to JIRA/Confluence for project management activity
