HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

We have an opportunity within HSBC Asset Management business for a Quantitative Equity Strategies Manager - This is a GCB4 level role.

Within HSBC Global Asset Management, the Quantitative Equity team manages around USD40bn of assets. The role consists in co-leading the research and development program of the team, managing a set of quantitative strategies implemented in various portfolios and supporting the business development in conjunction with sales and teams and product specialists. The Quant Equity team is a business unit as opposed to a service center where the primary goal is to grow the assets.

In this role you will:

  • Contribute to the development of the models and the infrastructure (notably, the library of programs used to run models) needed to manage quantitative equity portfolio including effectively managing the rebalancing process of a subset of quantitative portfolios.
  • Run analysis to understand the portfolio outcomes and participate in wider team projects that require quantitative investigation.
  • Bring data science-based techniques to the activities of Quant Equity and participate in research including assisting in the development of quantitative investment products.
  • Collaborate with investment teams to enhance and innovate ESG and Climate data projects.

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following:

 

  • Strong experience in quantitative research, analysis and designing associated strategies that are aligned to working extensively with financial data is essential, an understanding of Asset Management or ideally Equities would be a bonus.
  • Highly qualified educationally (Masters, PHD or equivalent) within a quantitative led subject such as computer science, mathematics or economics is essential.
  • Experience in coding in R, Python or Matlab and optimization applications that require a deep knowledge of the underlying algorithms is essential
  • Have good stakeholder management skills that lead to being viewed as a ‘Trusted partner’ across a range of internal teams is essential.
  • Possess excellent time management, planning and organisational skills and adept in managing tasks with conflicting priorities is essential.

 

 

This role is based at HSBC Office in London and has a hybrid working pattern
