We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Associate/Associate, Structured Banking.

Principal Responsibilities

Structured Banking is a dedicated team of corporate financiers specialising in the origination, structuring and execution of complex debt financing transactions for HSBC Commercial Banking clients in Hong Kong. This includes large, multi-bank transactions, private equity-backed companies, acquisition financing and bespoke financing solution.

In this role you will

  • Support sustainable revenue growth through understanding customer needs and by adopting a solution-based approach to debt structuring

  • Support Deal Captains in the team with the origination and execution of debt financing transactions, across pitching, structuring, negotiation, credit approval and legal documentation alongside legal counsel

  • Effectively identify and manage the risks associated with more complex lending through comprehensive due diligence, including financial modelling, and appropriate transaction structuring

  • Collaborate with other Commercial Banking product areas and Corporate and Institutional Banking to deliver holistic solutions to clients

  • Contribute to a comprehensive and efficient credit approval process at the various stages, ensuring all key risks have been identified and thoroughly considered

  • Selective engagement with clients and other key stakeholders to support the transaction execution process

  • Ensure adherence to all applicable operational risk standards and policies, reporting any breaches in accordance with local procedures

Requirements

To be successful you will need

  • Strong understanding of the HSBC Commercial Banking products and how they are evolving to support our clients. Solid corporate finance technical foundations spanning financial modelling, credit risk analysis, legal documentation and deal origination / pitching

  • Deep understanding of the 3 core financial statements and how to interpret them. Familiarity with LMA / APLMA legal documentation, including term sheets

  • Experience in customer facing roles, including evidence of negotiating with clients to deliver mutually satisfactory outcomes. Demonstrable experience in growing revenue through providing tailored solutions, and increasing new business

  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent spoken and written English and Mandarin. Fluency in Cantonese is preferred

  • Keen interest in acquiring new relevant knowledge and innovating for growth

  • Holding relevant certificates as required by local regulatory bodies

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint essential

  • Candidate with less experience will be considered for the Associate position
